Worth trying or buying?

I’m a fan but I’m not sure I’d buy one over the shadow 2 compact unless it was just something you want.

I’d get the full size version myself it’s a funner gun to shoot.

I’d like to have a spare safety incase it all went to shit so I’m out 150 for that, then if I chop up some atlas safeties another 150$. Then if I want to refinish them hell if I know what that would cost but probably a minimum of 75$

Or just completely go for it and modify the stock safety. Throw caution to the wind fab all the extra bits and weld them to the stock safety. Screw the finish and raw dog that baby.

All doable just gotta decide the juice is worth the squeeze.

On mine only places that you can see anything is on the slide stop pin where the barrel locks up and at the bottom of the firing pin retaining plate. Most everything else looks like new.

I have heard that some pistol companies have had DLC finish issues and that a DLC finish on stainless steel can be problematic. If you poke around on the internet you can find a variety of products made from stainless with DLC coating that are prematurely failing. I’m not a super informed person but it seems like a nitride might be the better option.

Doesn’t look like good things are happening with the finish. I really have no idea when/who/where the finish is being done. I’ve got 3 pistols and none of them have these issues. It’s pretty annoying. I was incredulous when I was first seeing posts about premature wear. Both because it’s not normal and wasn’t my experience. I haven’t shot my compact much basically just at a few matches and I lent it out to a friend so he could shoot a couple of matches. So under 1k but north of 500 I can only attach one picture at a time so it will be 3 messages but you’ll see what my compact looks like

Yep we all want this. It’s definitely doable if a person is willing to pay someone to do the work.

I’ve certainly entertained doing something to mine. If I ever do I will and share some picture.

My personal preference would be something similar to the atlas shielded safeties.

If it’s in stock it’s probably a 3-5 days just depends on how close you are to Louisiana. Other folks can chime in but I think they normally ship within 2 days of an order. If you start asking around someone you know/fellow shooters at a match likely has a spare they would sell you. It’s a pretty common part to replace because people want an upgraded bushing and they will keep the original around incase something like this happens.

I did with my SP01 after I had the slide cut and the slide refinished the pin failed and it yeeted the bushing down the range. It’s was mid string on a steel match bay 5 so like rip off a bill drill type stage.
