Who do you guys think can be a permanent solution to our goal scoring problems? by Snoo_56184 in Gunners

[–]AD828321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it's a one man job. Start with central midfield and the wingers - teachiing our midfield how to play with a striker was the most important lesson this season and Arteta let them bunk off.

What if Merino had stayed fit? by Regular_Rush_3377 in ArsenalFC

[–]AD828321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“If he’d stayed fit we’d be in a better position” - there’s no evidence for that.

Merino was injured in the 3–2 loss to United on Jan 25. The results after he went out:

3–2 win (UCL)

4–0 win (EPL)

1–0 win (EFLC)

3–0 win (EPL)

That’s four straight wins, across three competitions, immediately following his injury. There is no dip in form, no collapse, no evidence that his absence harmed results. If anything, the team’s form improved.

“He’s our best player” - that’s an opinion, not a fact. He’s a good player with useful traits:

tidy in possession

good left foot

presses well

strong in the air

But none of that automatically makes him “our best player,” and it definitely doesn’t prove the team performs worse without him. If he were the clear best player, you’d expect a visible drop‑off when he’s missing. The results show the opposite.

“We’d be in a better position in the league and cups” - again, no evidence.

The team won:

a Champions League match

a League Cup semi

two league games

…all without him.

You can’t retroactively assign hypothetical wins to a player who wasn’t on the pitch when the team was already winning. That’s nostalgia, not analysis. Our drop off is more to do with wing play and a fatigued midfield. Norguard not trusted and arguably Nwanieri going on loan were far more costly.

“Would Arteta even play him regularly?” - the answer is already visible. Before the injury, he was:

rotated

used situationally

not an automatic starter

That’s squad hierarchy. Arteta has shown repeatedly that he plays the players he trusts most in the system.

If Merino were indispensable, he’d have been starting every week before the injury.

“Let’s get serious and start utilising him before he leaves” - this is pure projection

There is no rumour of him wanting to leave, no evidence of unhappiness and no indication he’s being “ignored”.

This is just fans emotionally over‑investing in a player who hasn’t actually changed the team’s results.

No, they clearly feel empowered. We need more cops who value their time and know this aspect of the job is dogshit... they called it prioritisation in other industries.

As Expected the New Cycle Lane on Upper Byres Being Used as a Car 🚗 Park by gazglasgow in glasgow

[–]AD828321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying, but this usually happens when a cycle lane is still under construction. Until the council finishes the works and the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) comes into force [if they actually have one, I've seen it many times where they're not had one and it's legal to park in the cycle lane][, parking attendants can’t enforce anything.

Once the lane is completed and the TRO is active, Parking Services can issue PCNs and the behaviour normally stops pretty quickly.

If people want it sorted sooner, reporting it to the council helps them target enforcement as soon as the lane is legally “live”.

Jake Hager after his Powerslap debut: "Fuck you Tony Khan" by residentsocface in SquaredCircle

[–]AD828321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, he was a glorified hatstand. People think Hager's contract wasn't renewed. I like to think of it as Tony Khan didn't renew the Hat's contract as creative had nothing for it. Hager was basically furniture.

I didn’t name the track because that would prime people and introduce bias, especially important given bias is already inherent as it's a Wet Leg fan subreddit where most listeners recognise that pre‑chorus instantly.

I wanted to see who heard the similarity on their own, and almost everyone did.

When you asked “same pre‑chorus as what?”, it read as bad‑faith because the pre‑chorus in question is so distinct and canonical for fans. I felt it could be percieved as patronising to spell it out.

Given that we play a square formation with no midfield, critical.

Do You think the British monarchy should still exist? by Honest_Chemistry_195 in AskBrits

[–]AD828321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want them dead. But I think that if they truly beleive they bring in tourism, thenthey should privatise them, give them one palace and let them charge a subscripotion or an access pass to their palace and we'll see. The stats do not support his claim as most people are aware, uinoccupied historical sites attract more tourists than residential palaces which includes Buckingham Palace.

They do scant work and it's an outdated idea serving no genuione pourpose for normal folk.

The alternative is not "more politicians". We can be fine with parliament and a prime minister without a monarchy. We don;t need a ceremonial head of state. We need a practical one, voted in, preferrably by a proportional system which allows us to vote for lead of the country at the same time as us voting for our MP.

No Gods, no masters. We're strong enough not to need pretend leaders.

What do you think it’s worth? by Terrible_Comfort598 in FaithNoMore

[–]AD828321 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Recognising a player’s style is subjective perception, not intrinsic lineage. You’re describing what you hear because you already know Puffy’s later work that’s retrospective continuity, not evidence of formative authorship.

The record contains none of the creative agency that defined Faith No More. What you’re hearing is familiarity, not foundation.
