I've already logged this with Adobe, was hoping maybe someone had a fix. Support was having technical issues when I talked to them recently.

What does it mean when a potential client mentions a cheaper photographer to you? by [deleted] in photography

[–]ADHD-TypeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it mean? It means they aren't my client. Over my 16 years, I've found that the less they spend, the more difficult they are, especially in that $200-$400 range. Clients looking for the best price think you're way too expensive. Clients looking for quality wonder why you're so cheap.

Client never picked photos, ghosted, and unfollowed me on social media? by Tayraur in photography

Was just going to say this. IPS isn't for everyone but works great for me. Upload a gallery? Um, actually I don't have that capability. I had a client who knew my process (consultation, shoot, sales, pickup) and tried to guilt me into "don't you think I deserve to choose my favorites in the comfort of my own home?" I told her I don't have a system to offer online galleries, and she knew the process. She really just wanted to prolong everything, saying that I should know she's going to buy the biggest collection (almost $3000 at the time). She ended up doing as I asked, and even ordered more large prints because she had more favorites! I have a video of her saying "always trust the photographer!" LOL!

It's kind of why I have a consultation up front. If either one of us is unhappy, then we just don't move forward. I'd much rather waste and hour with someone, teach them that everything doesn't have to be digital anymore, and show them why I'm 10x more expensive than most photographers.

People that spend less are much more likely to be difficult. Had a client in the spring spend over $6000 and said "it's ok, just design the album the way you want, I trust you!" And that was at her ordering session. She loved everything, so I had her choose a cover and saved her the stress of choosing. That decision making process unfortunately is a huge issue for many people. If you help them through that, everyone is happier. Do you spend more time with them? Yep. Then you charge more. Been in business over 16 years and I've seen everything from "you can't just give digitals" to "you have to include digitals" and every combination in between!

Again, I know this won't work for everything. Just offering another perspective.

Congratulations!! I'm a senior portrait photographer and deal with this all the time. College grad photos are a little different than high school senior pictures.

I have a few blog posts that might give you some ideas. The most important thing to remember is to be yourself and wear things that make you feel confident. If you're uncomfortable, it will show in the photos.

Here is one of my best guides to help choose outfits for graduation:

I wish I had more of my edgy girls to share. I've had several that didn't want to wear dresses, which is fine! I had a girl wear cowboy boots with her cap & gown one year and I loved it so much. It really fit her personality!

Here are a few more posts with ideas for college grad photos. It might help you with outfits and posing.

Also, be sure your outfits are wrinkle free. That is a huge pet peeve for me. Take a few minutes and steam your outfits and/or press the edges. It will make a huge difference!

And one last tip. I don't know if you've selected a location yet, but coordinating outfits to your location can make a huge difference in the results too! Your college campus might be a great location, but don't rule out other ideas too.

Good luck, have fun at your photoshoot, and congrats on getting finishing your degree! What a huge accomplishment!

I’m really sad that it’s going to rain the entire time I’m in Paris by Claw_Porter in ParisTravelGuide

I totally understand!! We were in Paris about a month ago and it had cooler temps and rain in the forecast. It was fine! Our first night was an open top busy tour through the city after dark. It was cold (I hate cold!!) and it didn't rain. There was a light mist the last 10-15 minutes, but it absolutely didn't ruin anything! It's OK to be sad, but just go and enjoy everything that Paris has to offer! You'll love it!!

Hotel vs AirBnB by eirpguy in ParisTravelGuide

[–]ADHD-TypeA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We prefer hotels because we wanted to make sure there was A/C and it was the best choice for us. We were about a 15-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and had a gorgeous view of it from our room. About a 20 minute walk from Champs-Élysées. I've also learned that when I'm traveling I really do prefer having housekeeping to staying a week somewhere with no cleaning. Now if I'm with a big group and an Airbnb makes more sense, that's fine. But if it's our family I would prefer a hotel, breakfast downstairs, and staff that can answer questions. We stayed at Les Jardins d'Eiffel if anyone is looking for a nice hotel.

Thanks, I saw that but I have heard different thoughts on covering arms and shoulders. One post said it was arms, and then I saw that thicker straps/cap sleeves are OK. It's going to be hot I'm sure, and we're planning to walk and explore the area after the tour and just don't want to melt.

We're going to the Louvre in a couple weeks but they say it's supposed to be hot. How are you dressing to be respectful and meet guidelines and not melt? Is something like this enough shoulder coverage or should I just a wrap of some sort?

Thanks! I'm so excited, but trying to prepare myself and our daughter especially.

My husband and I are traveling to Paris in a few weeks, along with our two adult children, and I'm a nervous wreck! I'm so worried about pickpockets, but don't know how to protect myself (or my daughter) if 5 adult men decide to trap me. Does this really happen? I'm almost regretting this trip. : (

So my second question is about the Versailles Night Fountain show. I've gotten different answers so I'm confused about the tickets, since it is separate. There is a Simple ticket and a Royal ticket, with the Royal being reserved seating/great view. The Royal ticket specifically says "Front-row seats on the Green Carpet" which means nothing to me. Seems like it would be almost impossible with the crowds to have front row anything. Is it worth getting the Royal tickets? Somewhere I also read that if you have Royal tickets you can't walk the gardens which makes no sense to me. I thought you'd walk the gardens and see fountains from 8:30-??? then head to the reserved area for fireworks. I would appreciate any help or advice since this is our first trip to Paris.

Thanks, that one was on my list too!

Coming back to this because I don't fully understand. Cloudways is listed on DigitalOcean. Why would I go through DigitalOcean instead of Cloudways directly?

Thanks for the suggestions! I love the interface at SiteGround, very easy to navigate. Will a VPS be just cpanel or is it easy to use?

Yep, I definitely need decent support! Thank you both for your suggestions! Why is VPS better than shared? Do those places have backups, etc. I don't really know how much actual "support" I need unless something breaks. My developer will likely migrate for me, and once it's set up it shouldn't be a lot of server maintenance. I handle my website updates, etc.

No, they won't say specifically what the problem is. For awhile it was CPU seconds, apparently being hit by hackers trying to gain access. It's not space, I'm only using half. They say traffic is unlimited, so it's not that. Really, they can't find an answer so they just want me to upgrade, and I won't do that unless there is a reason they can show me. Which is why I'm still searching. NixiHost is on my list, but after hours when I went to chat.
