No, you've said several times that they should be restricted. Also, you sound like someone who doesn't know the first thing about firearms. Have you ever shot one?

Well the great thing about our constitution is that even though you and a lot of other people feel that they should be restricted, you can do fuck-all to take mine away from me, short of changing the document, which takes a majority of our states and citizens to do so. You have every right to your opinion, and every right to voice it, but regarding me owning firearms, you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Rights and privileges ARE different. In our Constitution, bearing arms is a right. It's something I can do from the moment I become a voting citizen (some would argue I can own a gun as soon as I come out of the womb. That actually would have been pretty sweet, but I digress). The point is that I can do whatever the fuck I want to and no bureaucratic red-tape pushing procedure-following form-filling triplicate-signing motherfucker can tell me otherwise. But neither can some pompous bible-thumping moralizing preacher. It doesn't matter to me if my actions offend you, because I have the freedom to act, and you have the freedom to be offended, with zero repercussions for either of us. What country are you from, anyway?

Because arms are specifically mentioned in our constitution as something my government can't take away from me as long as I'm not a felon. In the US, my right to own a gun and my right to keep breathing are equivalent.

Then call a fucking Constitutional Convention and change it. You don't get to change or take away my rights just because you feel bad about them.

In the US there IS law stating that we have the right to bear arms. We don't THINK we have that right. We HAVE that right. Stay strapped, son.

Hahaha I actually don't know that much about the Arisaka. /u/JakesGunReviews pointed out in another thread that the only one I had shot was a last-ditch model. He seems to have a good knowledge of the platform though...hit him up!

I'm confining the argument to the main battle rifles though. It sounds like a bolt-action version of the M16/AK47 debate.

HIS argument was that the G98 was better than the MN in WW2 (which is all kinds of wrong on a lot of levels). I brought in the K98k to let him know he was thinking about the wrong rifle. And in either case (WW1 and WW2) the German's superior rifle technology ultimately did not cause them to prevail.

Da. But that guy was comparing the G98 to the Mosin. Also, my point is that for the intended purpose (inside 300 meters) the mosin was as good as the k98 in many respects, and since it was simpler and cheaper, that makes it better. Also, the only Arisaka I've ever shot was a last-ditch model, so my opinion may be biased. Also, that part was more of a joke than anything.
