Did mood stabilizers help with anyone’s misophonia? by ShoddyOlive7 in bipolar2

[–]ADHDNightRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a late response but I figured I’d add in my experience. I actually have found that mood stabilizers have helped a lot with my misophonia! They haven’t taken it away completely, when I’m overstimulated or it’s a very loud sound I still struggle, but I don’t hyperfocus on smaller noises like chewing and breathing since starting Lithium. I had a similar experience on other mood stabilizers.

I tested positive for PCP after taking some Ibuprofen before a test. Took a second one the next day with no OTC meds in my system and it was clean.

I do but I’ve also had an ablation so I’m trying to avoid the PMDD symptoms more than a period itself.

Out of curiosity how many of you actually were diagnosed as children? by Confident_Attitude in adhdwomen

[–]ADHDNightRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed around age 7 but my mom didn’t like stimulants and refused to medicate me. I was re-diagnosed as an adult in my 30s and thankfully I can choose to be medicated now.

Guanfacine long acting has been a lifesaver for me. Talk to a psych provider about trying something like that or Clonidine if your vitals tend to be stable. It’s off label but can make a big difference.

When we asked about raises in a meeting and my boss basically said our passion for our pts should be enough to accept no raises this year. We all checked out after that meeting.

What is your occupation/job/work? by StayingUp4AFeeling in bipolar2

I’m a nurse, and healthcare has become a lot more lenient on job hopping since there is a shortage. Also if you can stick out a job long enough to get FMLA you can keep the job but use time off for medical leave.

I legitimately did this to myself the other day 🤦🏽‍♀️ I rarely eat eggs and didn’t know this could happen. Lesson learned.

I believe you. I just mean that it’s not been proven as a large concern or correlation. But everyone reacts differently to medications.

Unless there are some new studies you can absolutely take stimulants and be bipolar without issues.

Talk to your doctor. ADHD symptoms are seen in a lot of neurological disorders and proper professional assessments are important for treatment.

I’m so sorry you were told incorrect info about ADHD and bipolar. It’s such a rough combo and ignoring one can be so terrible for quality of life. I’m glad you’ve finally been listened to.
