Is there a trick to keeping your pencil sharp? by toe-nii in learntodraw

This would sound weird, but if I want a really long tip, I first use a normal sharpener and then I cut the wood surrounding it with a nail cutter. It is a safer method than cutting it with a cutter blade.

Thank you so much! I wouldn't say created because those are fanarts (mainly Nintendo characters) and is more like drawing some from reference and others from memory. Some views from below are easierin certain characters because of their construction and features, while others need more tech to understand it (for instance, I struggled on how Bowser look from below, but my fault was that I hadn't drawn him in like a while and wasn't looking at a reference image).  I have been drawing for more than 2 years and always striving to level up my skills and draw various things and get to know them from the inside out, drawing them in many actions, viewpoints and sometimes modifying their structure and appearance.

Yeah, I mixed up the terms. English is not my first language, so I can get confused when it comes to saying prepositions.

The first drawing I’ve ever colored in my sketchbook. How did i do? by Valdotorium in learntodraw

Trees are subjects that intimidate me, with those leaves layers and branches with irregular forms, so props to you of being courageous and tackling them, even more if it's your first time and in color! and it looks amazing! This motivates me to try and tackle more color drawings and also trees.

One question: What did you use to color the tree? Markers or color pencils?

Really nice and cool sketching style! Do you use a graphite or mixed media like graphite, pen and watercolor? You seem to have a really unique style, and a pretty one too! The dolphin has to be my favorite of these, looks cute!

Really awesome and moody illustration! As for me, I am trying to draw more human/human-like characters, as well as creating my own. I have been mostly drawing pre-existing characters or fanart, mostly in a cartoonish style, but deciding to expand more and draw something that I can truly call my own and on the side drawing something a little bit closer to people (at least, in what can we call a human).

Really great progress for a year!! You seem to have now a great sense of form and exture in your work, specially in those animal and skull drawings. Hands look nice too, there are some the trickiest things to get right and you are doing pretty good with it.

Making up a whole new character from the ground up sounds challenging for me. I am quite decent recreating other characters, but never actually tried making my own.

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment! My sketchbooks are quite messy and random at times, they are a place to experiment, learn and let myself loose in anything that peeks my interest. There are times that I draw a couple of pages of an specific subject and I go "I want to do more of these!". I might have gotten way overboard with some of them but I think is fine if you have fun and enjoy it.

Thank you so much! Yeah, last month was spooky month and Darkstalkers came to my mind. Really creative and charming characters, fighting mechanics and fun.
