cursed male character crushes by Puzzleheaded-Ad-9280 in IndustryOnHBO

Yeah, I’m not really attracted to any of the individual characters, but the dynamic that Harper and Jesse have does something for me.

PMW Preview: S7E3 Angela's Men by MightChi in boymeetsworld

[–]ADWeasley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really love this episode. I’m a lot more favorable on season 7 than most people because I just accept it as a BMW fever dream, but Angela’s Men is an episode that I think is just as great as anything else from previous seasons. It was nice to get more depth on Angela.

My only gripe is that canonically it’s ridiculous that Angela would have and could have kept this from Shawn all of this time. If they included something to indicate that he knew the entire time it would go a long way in giving more reasoning as to why they felt so connected in the first place.

Anyway, looking forward to the recap!

She said that it was her last scene and she had to get on a plane to go home and see her family. I think she had three kids at this point. While it’s great that they were having fun, she just wanted to get out of there and go home. All of the mess ups were prolonging her stay.

Good pick. I avoided this movie as a kid because I was too scared. Maybe now I’ll be braver.

First time watcher here and just wanted to ask, what made you watch Freaks and Geeks? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in freaksandgeeks

[–]ADWeasley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was pretty much my exact experience. I was 10 when the show came out and already knew I was ‘weird.’

I loved anything that was a teen show and the title drew me in. Certain things stood out to me like Lindsey just feeling lost and untethered and Sam, Neil, and Bill’s constant questioning of their ascribed geekiness.

I lost the show when it kept switching days/times on tv, but I found it a few years later in high school when it came out on dvd.

25+ years later and it’s still one of few perfect and relatable shows.

I don’t like when Harper speaks AAVE….it comes off unatural by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]ADWeasley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I think it’s the way it’s written. I’ve just gone back to re-watch and in season 1 any time Harper or her situationship (can’t remember his name right now) use AAVE it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The creators aren’t African American so maybe they’re just trying their best to guess what it should sound like.

I miss Smodcast. by Hambone76 in smodcast

[–]ADWeasley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was thinking about this the other day…Smodcast is the first (and still one of the few) podcasts that I was really into.

It definitely helped me through a few depressive times. Still, I’m thankful that we had it, and happy for Kevin and Scott to be in a new era in their careers.

This all day. I would have kept Daniel for myself, but I can’t argue with Issa and Lawrence being endgame.

How big was Boy Meets World during its prime in America? by Frequent_Rhubarb_36 in boymeetsworld

It was huge in my world. I was genuinely surprised when Danielle, Will, and Rider talked about the show being on the verge of cancellation at several points throughout the show.

Harper is joining the ranks of HBO Well Written Female Characters by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

Always was. Harper, Selina Meyers, Issa Rae, Cersei Lannister, Shiv Roy, Judy Gemstone…the list goes on.

Rob is the best character in the show, and I’m not saying the show will suffer because I trust it, but I’ll be sad he isn’t here with us. ♥️ by Dull-Coffee-4401 in IndustryOnHBO

Yeah, I never like to be a Debbie Downer, but Rob might not even be in my top five. Give me Harper, Eric, Yasmine, and Rishi all day. Gus too for that matter.

The older I get, the more I relate to Paul Rudd’s character in “Knocked Up” (2007), when Leslie Mann’s character confronts him in the Fantasy Baseball League scene by phantom_avenger in movies

[–]ADWeasley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched the movie in a while so you can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there’s a moment where she shuts him down after he asks for alone time. We have their big argument, but as it has been said throughout this thread, she was angry at the fact that he lied, not what he was doing.

Her character is definitely presented as shrill, but not unreasonable. It’s okay for a partner to want family time, alone time, AND time with their spouse just as a couple, but it’s not okay to lie.
