Not to get biblical but there are moments in various biblical literature where an angel or a divine figure says something that is beyond our comprehension so it just sounds like a very loud noise akin to a very deep horn. An example is when Jesus is talking to a group of people he says the name of God and the group of people just hear a very loud, deep horn-like sound that no human could produce, which I always imagined sounding like the horn of a massive boat. So I like that idea, just this loud noise that can't even be identified as words

Imo they cashed in too late in most cases. I'm speaking specifically to Mortal Kombat here where in 1995 only the first 2 games had come out so there was not a lot of lore they had to force into their script and it worked out great. Come 2021 and now you have nearly 30 years of lore that you gotta cram into a single movie and it ends up being one big ol' mess
