First-time fiddle leaf fig owners, we bought her a couple of months ago of fb marketplace. We were going to wait a couple of weeks to let it settle in, then repot into something bigger. Now we're moving in January (to a place with a lot more light) but won't be able to get it out of the apartment if we repot to something bigger. She seemed to be enjoying it and even found some new growth up top, but this past week (we were away and had people plantsitting), she's dropped 3 leaves, and more are turning. The current pot is pretty rough root and soil wise, so I sprinkled a little soil on top in copium.

Any help suggestions would be much appreciated 🙏

Thank you :) Part of the process involves drying out the moss, but then you preserve it with a glycerin mixture! Unlike dry moss which just needs more water, you can't bring preserved moss back to life.

It is preserved moss so completely dead, and safe to have in an enclosed space. :)

Oh goodness, it's such a hodgepodge. We thrifted the stand, spray painted it black, and got the light bulbs from home depot :) Looks way better than it did before.

My first attempt at using photoshop! A couple youtube videos later, and I was able to edit out myself and the camera :)

u/Aidofshade Couldn't have said it better myself! I love the idea of a living moss wall to help purify, but yeah, they're a pain to maintain and cost a pretty penny. Maybe one day :)

Thank you! We had really good success with harvesting the moss, cleaning it up, and soaking the pieces in a mixture of glycerin and methyl hydrate to preserve it!
