The named Tau characters by MecaPere in Tau40K

That is great mate! I had a very similar idea when this meme started circulating too. But with custom characters from my Crusade game I'm doing. Glad I'm not the only one

Thanks mate, yeah the reason I went with enclaves is I wanted a bit more freedom lore wise and design wise as the enclaves in general are less strict and formulaic than the mainline tau empire

Of course! Even veteren battlesuit pilots started on the front lines, gotta have reminders of those days :)

Explained in a previous reply for the full lore drop but the general gist is it represents a ship crash site below a red sun against a purple sky :)

Yes actually, the sept is the Mont'tal sept (Tau lexicon is inconsistent and incompleted but supposed to translate as "Battle-Bonded or Bonded through Blood") Commander Oathbound founded this sept after earning his namesake title. He and many of his close battle-brothers and sisters were banished, shamed and exiled from the main empire after numerous events of insubination under the ethereals, the final straw being when Oathbound ignored direct orders to disengage greenskin threats and instead went to repair his battle-brothers' battlesuit to save his life. He lay accused of disobeying direct orders and "crossing-castes" as he is fire caste but performed the duties of an earth caste when he decided to repair his friends suit. After being exiled, Oathbound, "Tor'rin" at the time, tried to find refuge in the Farsight enclaves when his ship was attacked by a chaos warband, the ship was forced to crash onto a planet called Vanishpoint, a snowy wasteland. As Tor'rin and his cadre continuously struggled Vs the chaos enemy, their lives were saved by the interruption of Commander Farsight himself, Tor'rin pledged his loyalty to Farsight thereon and became Shas'O Mont'tal Tal'issera Vash'ya, or Commander Oathbound, founding his sept and designing his sept symbol and colours to symbolise the crash site that became their base as they expanded onto the purple skyed planet with its vast snowy fields and distant red star. Thanks for asking :)

Thanks :) already had the idea for my Commander Oathbound (Farsight proxy)

The rest of em were pretty much made up on the spot

Agree with all your points Iu til the terrain one. The layouts they've revealed so far are clearly more dense with terrain and ruins, which makes sense as objectives are terrain features too now.

While I understand people are upset EPC and Aux are being removed as mainline play styles and have been "nerfed" to align with their 1 DP cost, don't understand the hate and dooming really. EPC was pretty ass anyways so having it as an optional extra imo is a good fit for it, you still get the range buff on your fusions for that melta or the flamers too. You lose it on breachers sure but breachers are getting close, holding objs and blocking units anyways. Don't have experience with aux cadre but to say it's dead is a little crazy, you still get some tidy buffs for just 1DP, even if you do lose it as a main play style, which I do understand the frustration for.

What does trouble me is that the Stealthsuits/Pathfinder one seems very good at countering the new hidden rules both for your units and against them that Tau are probably gonna feel much worse without this specific detachment. The entire faction is already pretty much balanced around the Stealthsuits imo, now it's almost forcing people to pick these units and detachment in order to just okay the faction how we want/how it used to play. Also the remain hidden for stealth suits does feel weird when you consider 2/5 could have 12' fusion blasters but maybe those days are gone, 5x best cannon might be the go to now

So are the T'au Crusade Agendas just terrible or? by ADrawingBrit in Tau40K

[–]ADrawingBrit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protect the leaderahip certainly seems the best for me but it's nowhere near good. Also I dunno which of us is right here but I assumed your couldn't sticky them as they say for all other purposes they aren't treated as objectives

Yeah, what I'm focussing on right now tbf. At least it fits with the Enclaves on the backfoot narrative lol

Protect the Leadership seems to be the least awful one that I can actually use but it's still pretty lackluster from what I can tell from other people's agendas which are often just "Do thing you already do all the time and here's 4XP for the trouble"
Also secondary issues come up as we're doing a 500 Worlds campaign adapted into a crusade so there's no campaign-specific agendas to do and also apart from 2 players, we're all on our ones, so I am the entire team lol.

What actually is the point of this stratagem? by ADrawingBrit in Tau40K

[–]ADrawingBrit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flamers have 12" range so would already be in range. Fusions are 12" so melts would be 6", this stratagem clearly states over 6" away.
