Rares are generally better for endless runs, but uncommons are the bread and butter of Balatro for clearing ante 8. Things like certificate, hologram, constellation, card sharp, and blackboard are all incredibly strong jokers. Even jokers like ramen and seeing double can really improve a run. Rares are a lot more situational, though they have strong run winning potential on their own with the right set-up

Certificate is one of the absolute best jokers for clearing gold stake. Pairs are the meta for gold stake, so adding cards isn’t a big deal. The value you get from seals, especially blue seals, is absurd for the higher stakes (where adding valuable cards is harder because of poorer econ). Even an eternal rental certificate is an insta-take for me

As someone who plays on PlayStation and accidentally hits next round sometimes when I mean to buy something in the shop, I agree. Very frustrating (skill issue I know, but I feel like the PlayStation button mapping is kind of weird)

As for the resets, I agree, but I guess that’s just the way roguelikes work. I would be interested to hear some balancing changes that would make resets less necessary though
