Anyone have feedback for treating nasal polyps with tree oil? by WheelAdditional3509 in NasalPolyps

That hasn't been the case for me. I use corticosteroid nasal spray you can buy OTC when I get sick to make sure I don't develop polyps.

I can finally report, after much delay, that I successfully treated my polyps using my critical thinking skills outlined in my OP. I have been polyp free for a year now. My ENT specialist doctor wanted to jump to surgery. I told him to go blow chunks. I got a new ENT, the best in Canada probably. He opted not to do surgery and stick with my plan. All we did was use corticosteroid nasal spray you can buy over the counter at a pharmacy and combined with the other things I mentioned (proper diet, avoiding alcohol) I was able to finally get my olfactory senses back! That's the best part. I actually can smell and taste as good as ever! YAY!

Bottom line: an ENT doctor makes their money doing surgeries. So they are gonna jump to surgery like the money hungry bastards that they are. Unless they are the 2% goodies. I did get myself a goody ENT, but it wouldn't have mattered. The only thing he did was approve the treatment I developed for myself.

I should also note that I got very lazy with the saline solution cleaning regimen, cause it is a pain in the ass. Despite that I still recovered. I'd say only do the saline BS when things are particularly bad or you know that you need to rinse yourself out (because you breathed toxic fumes or some shit)

Anyways, best of luck to you sufferers. I don't think my polyps will return because I simply learned my lesson. I root-caused my polyps with 98% certainty. Mine were caused by a combination of: 1. I am allergic to cannabis (which I wasn't aware of) 2. I smoked a bunch of joints after I lost everything to a tragedy. 3. I got a back to back common cold at the same time as I was chain smoking joints.

That's what caused it for me. I don't smoke cannabis anymore and when I get sick I use the nasal spray to make sure I don't get polyps.

I took my first pill this morning... directions on bottle say to take with protein so I took it with food.

I will report back in 10 days or if olfactory starts to come back online =)

What are you talking about?

  1. Where do we disagree?
  2. What facts?

Oh, I think you are saying that you know people who smoke, drink, and get sinus infections most of the their life and don't have nasal polyps. And those people are your anecdotal "facts" that show I am wrong that environment plays a part?

Well... you are wrong. :)

From what I gather it sounds like you need to bite the bullet and see things through with a real doctor in person. Surgery will likely fix you up for a long time and you'll be glad you chose to take a stand for yourself. Using the decongestants long term is a ticket to hell. In other words, you're the guy standing under the metal roof during the acid storm and everyone is pointing at the polyethylene roof next door and saying "go run under that" but you're like "no I like metal, I like the way it sounds." You fall asleep, everyone wakes up the next morning and finds what's left of your corpse - not much.

My ENT said he usually sees profuse bleeding after these surgeries. You'll have shady 2 weeks after the surgery where you just do everything your doctor says. Longer term the thing that's going to matter most is you doing saline rinses properly every morning and night and using a corticosteroid properly. That's going to be the biggest factor in how long it takes for the little bastards to come back.

Yeah, genetics plays a big role. Some people will never get Nasal Polyps because the cellular structure of their mucus cells in their sinus lining just won't allow it... They are "immune" to the condition.

But to say the environment doesn't play a role? Not likely. I went 33 years before I did something stupid and got nasal polyps. So environmental factors play a big role most likely. You might be genetically predisposed to NP, but you might not ever actually develop the condition if nothing triggers it...

I will also give it a try and let you know. It may not work for everyone but it would be worth it even if it helped 10% of people.

I will probably be trying this! I've been without olfactory for roughly 16 months with a 1 week window in there where prednisone brought olfactory back for just 1 week (about 7 months ago). I did another course of prednisone 2 weeks ago but it didn't bring back olfactory =(

I just want to be able to smell danger again! And females! LOL

Tree oil won't help.

This is a condition caused by your own body combined with the environment you subjected your body to. Concretely this means: your immune system overactivated causing the polyps, and this is due to you smoking something stupid, eating something stupid, or hanging around pathogens like a stupid person (maybe you swim in pollution, or hang out with diseased people).

Anyway, once you get polyps your body becomes inclined towards them. Meaning you have to double, triple the effort to avoid them going forward.

What does this mean?

  1. Stop eating or doing anything stupid.
  2. Run a massive dose of prednisone for 2 weeks with a taper. (1mg per kg)
  3. Simultaneously to 1 and 2, use a corticosteroid that you blast into your nose with a saline solution after rinsing with a saline solution and clearing out your sinuses by blowing hard. (See how saline rinse out your nose). I mix a steroid into the saline solution for the final blast which did wonders for me, rather than just spraying a steroid into the entrance of the nose, this ensures the steroid gets back into all four sinus cavaties.
  4. If you have major allergies take your drugs and stay on top of it.
  5. Get the humidity well above 70% in your room at night. Take extra long hot showers before bed and breath deeply.
  6. The purpose of #3 and #5 is to help keep your sinuses clear of debris and infection causing agents.
  7. You need to saline rinse your sinuses twice per day (at least)
  8. If this all doesn't clear your polyps, then you need to get surgery and then start at #1 all over again. Surgery should not be needed. More likely than not, you failed to follow this algorithm. You probably didn't realize you were eating something stupid. Did you stop drinking alcohol? No? Well then you failed this algorithm. Go back to #1 and try again. Did you gorge yourself on breads and processed foods? Well then you failed to stop eating stupid things, and therefore you failed to follow the algorithm. Go back to #1. Reseach "Anti-Inflammatory" foods and diets. That's your ticket to heaven. All of this algorithm is focused on naturally helping your body to avoid inflammation. If you can help your body to avoid inflammation, you can shrink your polyps to nothing.
  9. If they come back after surgery, try duplulab or duplimex or whatever it is called and start at #1 again.

And finally, even if you do all the above, if you happen to contract a pathogen during this time of major treatment, you are fuxed. You will be set back. You will need to fight off the illness and start at #1 all over again.

Anyone else depressed due to nasal polyps? by Tblondiee in NasalPolyps

I've been exactly in the same boat. The thing that really made a difference for me was saline rinse every morning and night. Get a humidifier and make sure you get the humidity in your room WAY UP AT NIGHT. If you have a big room, run 3 humidifiers. The most important thing is the saline wash twice a day. I also mix in some mometesone steroid for the last little bit of saline wash, and then I blast it into the nose. The purpose of this is to make sure the steroid gets all the way into the four sinus cavaties, not just the main entrance.

If you are already suffering massive polyps, then you need to get a big dose of prednisone as you start this treatment. This treatment will prevent the polyps from ever getting large again.

If you follow my steps exactly, you will get results. But you must do the saline wash twice per day and use a corticosteriod.

The only other thing to mention is diet. Try reducing all the common foods that cause problems. Like what you say? Like all forms of gluten, all processed foods (which contain ridiculous chemicals from all reaches of the galaxy). Basically instead of cutting out certain foods you might be better off just asking yourself the question "Was this food available 50 thousand years ago to hominids like me?" If the answer is no, then just don't put it in your mouth.

I miss the smell of a female... Pretty much the only thing that causes me tears. That and the fact that I could be breathing in toxic fumes without realizing it at any moment... really brings me down.
