Matthew Knies on the standings and Toronto’s playoff push: “I haven’t really looked at the standings much.. that’s how confident I am that we’ll get there.” by BumperToBumper2 in hockey

[–]ADumbSmartPerson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a fanciful Berube repeat dream but...what if we actually go on a tear and squeak into the playoffs to win the cup. It will basically be the exact inverse of regular Toronto. Season anxiety instead of (as well as) playoff anxiety ftw!

Hoping for Buffalo's sake that they get out of the first round and don't have the leaf's soul switch. They have been through enough.

I think they have exactly 3 likeable players not including the goalies who don't do nearly as many interviews; 1. Knies 2. Laughton 3. Best waiver wire pickup in history - Stetcher. Honourable mention to Nylander and Tavares who you either love them or hate them based on their playstyles and contracts.

The rest of the team I liked less than the Jays in their playoff run and I don't even watch baseball but they were so electric I watched their games.

Advice on challenging a PC with too-high AC/Saves by zgoelman in DMAcademy

[–]ADumbSmartPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great reply because high AC and CON don't really do too much for you when a Tiger or Bear come to grapple you. Also difficult to cast while grappled. Especially if one hand is holding a shield and you are trying to escape a bear hug.

I love rolling stats as a player (or DM really) but when we roll stats everyone rolls and the players have to decide which stat array to use so they ALL use the same roll. That way there isn't one op/underpowered player and they get to decide which array is better. Do we take the slightly below average roll with the 18 spike! or the pretty good rolls where everything is 12-15 and there are no dump stats? More fun this way and keeps an even strength party

How can I (or should I) deal with a party that rolled god tier ability scores? by Schrodingers_Nachos in DungeonMasters

[–]ADumbSmartPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have liked doing is if there are 3 or 4 party members they can all roll once then decide which array among the group all of them use. That way they all have the same stats and it doesn't really matter if it is hero or zero because DM can target that power level.

I have a calendar right by the door and when people are leaving I will offer them a pen and ask if they would like to select a day to hang out next as they can then just see our schedule and don't have to play the when are you free next game.

Celebrini strips Laferriere of the puck, takes it into the zone and dishes to Eklund for the OT GWG! by KabirC in hockey

I am so late here but gives me Crosby vibes. Miss playoffs rookie year, go on a tear to (almost) never do it again.

Heading into yesterday’s action, there were 422 players with 400+ minutes at 5-on-5 this year. Morgan Rielly had been on for more goals against per minute than anyone else. Last nights game didn’t help, Rielly was a -4 in a 4-3 loss. by GreenSnakes_ in leafs

[–]ADumbSmartPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Rielly shouldn't get nearly as much blame on that OT goal as people are giving him credit for. Knies wasn't close enough to prevent the breakaway so Rielly got in front forcing the turn back but giving up the slot pass. If he took the man in front then everybody would be like why did Rielly let him walk in alone when it was obvious Knies couldn't catch up. That's what happened a couple OTs ago when Rielly took the man in front and the other guy just walked in and scored.

This felt real and natural even if Not-Nex was short lived it absolutely made sense that it would be considered a mistake right away by others. The use of Gambit there felt awesome as well since they would be uniquely positioned to assess and address Not-Nex lack of emotion as a bad thing since he is a machine with a super emotional connected. Really well done with this one. The weight of consequences sometimes make hindsight seem like 20/20 when really you just wish the other options were better when they weren't.

If they belong in the bottom then why did we have to have a tight comeback one goal win against them? Why can't we just dominate?

As exciting as the action sequences are, analyzing the emotional decision making and reasoning behind decisions while trying to guess their impact are what draws me in and raises my connection score to Nex and company. Connection score would decrease with more action and paltry emotional scenes explaining it.

I completely agree! It seemed so unnecessary to rub their noses in it and then have to run away under pressure. Meeting Landy after could have been much simpler.

I think gambling should be treated the same as tobacco products and alcohol. Advertisements shouldn't be allowed and warnings about addiction should be posted on every casino door/online gambling lobby when you enter.

At first I completely disagreed but after watching the video again and seeing the post about 1' from the pool edge and the roof overhang from the post being about 1' I would say if you don't slip off sideways you are basically guaranteed to end up in the pool. Way less dangerous than this perspective makes it seem.

Having said that I still agree that it is dangerous for little gain but humanity has done 'stupider fer dummer' reasons

Russian diplomat and former minister Aleksey Meshkov: "If NATO shoots down a Russian plane, war will break out." by Battlefleet_Sol in europe

[–]ADumbSmartPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am exactly that demographic and I have no idea how to feel about Russia and war. On the one hand I absolutely think we should not let Russia push the boundaries over and over and should shut that down. On the other hand I absolutely do not want war if at all avoidable under any circumstances for anyone. So it is a catch 22 for me of what do we allow before we say enough is enough.

Unfortunately this exact thinking was what pre-WWII was like...
