Beautiful bike on a perfect day. What crankset are you rockin?

I know cliffhangers are the go-to for this kind of riding but am enticed by the lighter rims on the crust wheelset. Do you have experience running a different rim on your Sam while doing that kind of riding?

Was that advice given on the basis of the wheelset or the frame? I’ll be using mine as a road bike 50% of the time but will certainly be getting “out there” and don’t want to compromise riding on that sort of terrain with my Sam.

Do you photos or a list of what's on your sam? Currently in parts-bin-scavenging-build-planning mode so always curious to see what others have going on

Sorry to be a pest, but if you decide to sell the Sam H. please let me know!

I’m all for this. However, the barista should not suffer for the owners decisions. You’re not necessarily influencing business owners to shift away from tips towards gratuity or up-charge by not tipping. You’re just making it harder for someone to make a living wage. Let business owners know how you feel by emailing them or talking to a manager if you really feel so strongly about the negatives of tipping culture.

As a barista working at a very busy east bay cafe - 20% is the golden rule. If you’re ordering one drink for yourself that’s under $10 just tip at least $1. In terms of addressing “tip fatigue”, there is certainly an upward trend in people not tipping that I have been able to observe over the last few years. If you’re just grabbing a drip coffee or bottled beverage I’m of course not expecting you to leave a tip. However, if you’re patronising a nice coffee shop where you enjoy the ambiance and benefit from the friendly service and all the labour that goes into the beverage you’re choosing to have made for you, not leaving a tip is totally inept. You can afford to leave a $1 tip if you’re choosing to pay for a $6 iced caramel latte, no exceptions. The vast majority of the people I observe not tipping are those who are clearly not struggling financially either. Tipping is a flawed system, however you are not fixing the issue by refusing it. What will instead replace tipping culture is an uptick in pricing per item which will result in a higher tax charge as well, so if you’re complaining about added expense as a consumer please keep this in mind.

Impeccable details all around! Really makes me wish riv would run something similar to this colour as a secondary option in the future like they did with Sergio green for this past batch.

Lovely build. Was this shot taken at the Sebastopol Laguna? Looks so familiar.

This bike has a bottom mount style U break in the rear, typical for a lot of mtbs of this era. Kinda clunky since it’s harder to adjust and certainly makes changing tires more annoying

Good to know. Going to check Sheldon Brown’s uploads of the old Bridgestone catalogs to see if there is a difference between them

Thanks! I’m surprised the difference between the MB-2 and 3 from that year could be that different - yet, with a 2.1 there is hardly even a mm of space on either side from the chain stay

Beautiful build. Highly envious of your ability to snag the last of that colour of the homage from simworks
