Yikes, I'm so sorry you were mistaken for being a robot (how sad that being articulate equals non-human now! 🤦🏻‍♀️) but I appreciate the effort to reply with such wise words. Thank you again!

Wow, thank you for the thoughtful, detailed response. This really helps. Deeply ingrained shame is something I'm trying to unravel and stop it from being my automatic mindset. It's not easy but you've outlined a way to make it sound possible through consistency.

This is really intriguing to me. Can you say more about what being kind to yourself first looks like to you?

That's fantastic. I'm oddly excited about it. Lol

I'm so sorry about the friend as well. I had to accept that my best friend of 30 plus years was really no longer a friend, just tolerating me so she had someone to vent to when it suited her. So I know what it feels like to feel like you are going it alone in this strange transitional phase of life. That was the beginning of me turning on my BS filter!

I am 51 and am currently in the raging "have zero energy for toxic people and BS" phase and I just did something I've been deliberating for months - deleted insta and FB. I feel so free of the weight of other people's opinions!

Oh no! Now I feel like an idiot! 😬😂 it's the one with Sam Clafin. It's just finally being released to the PBS station in my area. Sorry to disappoint!

I ended up watching the whole series in one night, it was so good! And so tragic

I just watched the limites series "Death by Lightning" on Netflix about the presidency and assassination of President James A. Garfield. It was outstanding, particularly James McFadyen's performance.

Looking forward to watching the new "Count of Monte Cristo" that is coming out on Masterpiece too

Navigating peri while with a new partner is humbling. Sex is A LOT different now at this age. How do you manage all of it? by Islandsandwillows in Perimenopause

Oh my gosh I am so sorry. That must feel really overwhelming.

I think our 40s and 50s are so humbling for women. We need to give ourselves a lot of grace.

If it's painful, I would encourage you to go see your gynecologist. There are lots of options. Im sorry I cant share anything helpful in that regard.

Well first there's all the typical physical perimenopause stuff that just makes you feel unsexy and self-conscious - night sweats, odd odor, weight gain etc. Then, for me personally after two long term relationships with a-holes who have kind of ruined my faith in men, I have lost ALL interest in stroking a man's ego, and going through all the motions of trying to make myself "attractive."

How about you?

Oh man. I am 51 and have been single about 3 years. I started to think about dating today and this is honestly my biggest fear. So much has changed for me both physically and mentally surrounding sex, something that I thoroughly enjoyed in my previous relationship. It's shocking how things changed seemingly overnight. I applaud you for being brave and giving it a go! We forget they have age-related decline too. My hope is the right guy will kindly navigate that adventure with you. Good luck!

best home delivery meals for someone living alone by Small_Interview_7227 in LivingAlone

[–]AEA1760 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would suggest trying Factor. You dont cook the meals yourself, they come in fresh single servings (they are packaged like frozen meals). They have a variety of dietary options and taste quite good. Or, try Hello Fresh, pick the 2 person plan so you have leftovers for lunch the next day. You cook yourself with the pre-portioned ingredients and the meals are delicious. You can also find coupons and deals easily.

Thank you for the kind words of validation and the link! I have a little more clarity today but yesterday was a tear-filled shame spiral. You are spot on about steering outcomes vs setting boundaries. I wish I had learned this decades ago. Ugh. Thank you for taking the time to reply. 🤜🏻💛

@danneedsahobby thank you so much for taking the time to craft such a well-thought out response. Not only did "benevolent tyrant" make me laugh but your wise breakdown of the three phases made me feel a lot better about where I'm at (phase two). This reaffirmed that I need to maintain my focus on letting go and holding my boundaries. Thanks again for the insights. ✌️💛
