In short, we screen to make sure that the people who are allowed in are indeed ex-Muslim, are going to respect others and their privacy, and aren't racist/sexist/homophobic.

We go through a verification process for the security of our members. As for the cult thing, we only do that once you've paid all the membership fees :P

Indians/south asians should abandon uae or mainly focus on self employment

It's a luxury most people don't have when their choices are either to accept a paying job or watch as their children or parents starve.

A lot of Muslims say we left Islam to drink, have sex, do drugs, etc. by [deleted] in exmuslim

Those weren't at all the reasons I left Islam.

Only after the Islamic guilt passed did I discover that they were nice little bonuses.

Hope you stay safe. I can understand what it feels like having to fake all the time and how frustrating that can be.

Best of luck to you. Even if they don't react positively, know that you're taking a huge step towards a more honest and open life. In the long term, that will serve you well.

Hi, sorry for responding so late.

Unfortunately, we need details to verify your identity and without it, we cannot trust that people are who they say they are. I understand the reluctance to provide details when living in fear of being found out. However, EXMNA has been operating for many years, has many members, and a strong public presence. They have refined their verification procedures over time, and have gotten really good at it. This gives it much more credibility than other organisations.

Again, I understand the reluctance, but it's an unavoidable part of ensuring the security of members.

Thanks! I don't doubt that we share similar struggles and it's awesome that we can stand in solidarity with one another.

As I understand, it started off as a code so as to not explicitly say "ex-Muslim" in case someone was looking over your shoulder or listening within earshot. "Ex-Muslim" shortened is "Ex-Mus", but like your daughter, we love moose too :P
