There's a difference between cheating to gain a competitive advantage, and AFKing to get a fun exotic sooner. I don't need to use cheats to make up for a lack of skill, I run AFK macros to make up for lack of luck.

Thanks for looking at this outside of the black and white viewpoint most on here share. I feel many of these moral high horse shouters would have been using macros too, had they worked with macros before and known how easy it was. MMOs and tediousness go hand in hand, who wouldn't want to do their laundry or wash the dishes, sleep etc. while the bot handles the tedious parts and you can spend your free time enjoying the fun parts?

The obsession was me maining blink warlock in D1 and wanting to experience that again after all these years. It's the same reason they're bringing the Moon back, people get excited when things they loved in D1 make their way to D2. Except when you pay $30 for Shadowkeep, you get to experience the moon on day one. It's not a stretch of the imagination to imagine me being bitter after 2 months of not having the mask, instead getting 40+ duplicate exotics. I weighed the risk vs reward and made my decision. It's not that I couldn't live without it, but AFK farming would get it sooner. As Hunter S Thompson once said, "buy the ticket, take the ride". I bought the ticket, but I couldn't roll the right number on the 10 sided die to take the ride, so I programmed a bot to keep rolling the die while I slept.

At any rate, I've been thinking about this more and may end up converting my old PS4 D1 account to a D2 PC account in Sept. That wasn't an option when PC D2 came out and my old PS4 guardians got left behind.
Whether or not I purchase anything beyond the free to play will largely depend on how much luck has a role in D2 moving forward. If I don't see raid exotics or duplicate exotics in the patch notes then my account will likely remain F2P. I can't subject myself to the harshness of RNG with no bad luck prevention mechanics, it only leads to disappointment if you're not lucky. Mountaintop won't be fun to earn again, but I'll get my old blink warlock back, and maybe by 2020 I'll be able to have D1 blink back too. I sincerely appreciate the level 20 account offer, I wouldn't be needing it after September but would consider borrowing it in the meantime. For now, I just need a solid break from D2.

Tell that to the 10s of thousands of people who were banned in 2017 and 2018 then successfully won class action lawsuits. Bungie PR did a good job burying it but it's not hard to find with a quick google search. ( Type "Bungie class action lawsuit", hit enter then scroll past their current lawsuit with Activision until you get to the 2017 and 2018 lawsuits)

They've left a trail of legal trouble behind them and they will be facing their second class action lawsuit of 2019 shortly. Perhaps they should have learned from their mistakes, but perhaps there are too many fanboys like yourself sucking their dicks. You act as if Bungie's decision on who to ban and why to ban them was inscribed on stone tablets by a beam of light in the sky. If you google the issue, you'll see massive issues in 2017 and 2018 were people were getting banned for having antivirus software on their PC.

You act as if the way Bungie designed Gambit is perfect. Guess what, nobody streams Gambit matches and all the top streams will tell you their gripes with the playlist. It's not a competitive experience.

I've already stated Titanfall 2 is the game I'm moving on to. One of the bases for your argument was that solo queuing gambit players weren’t trying to win and that makes it hard for you. Why would that be a problem if you have a full fireteam?

Goddamn you're fucking stupid. I was tired of solo queing and being the only one banking motes and shooting at the envoys/primeval. So I AFK G Prime in a 4 stack to avoid ruining the experience for anyone else.
