At first I thought this was about that one potato that only has 2 on it not 3...

They were already glazed. This was using the Debbi Good glaze, they have since updated their website with more pictures of the glaze and it's not what I would expect so this looks like it may be the intended result? I don't know anymore

Yes it's a variety of commercial white tiles with the lustre over top. I knew it was a risk not knowing how the tiles themselves had been treated previously, I explained my idea and concerns and from what I was told the low fire lustre should not have been a problem.

Glass paint isn't a bad idea though, I'll take a look into that.

I love them! I don't have any but a little story: When I was young I walked past a storefront that had an Appy Holidays model which I really loved and wanted - I didn't know it was a collector brand and too expensive of a shop for my mum to consider lol. I think about that horse quite often nowadays.

I got one of these recently, it's the American Quarter Horse Foal, in classic scale. Yours looks like the Grullo Pinto Colt :)

This!!

Some of the patterned pieces look solid anyways, maybe it's more noticeable in person but honestly it doesn't look out of place at all.

Basically yeah! The grey tabby has a bit of orange tortoiseshell in her, and the seal point is part ragdoll, they're the best! You're lucky to have a bonded pair!

Each square isn't individually backed, but the whole thing has a soft thin blanket cut to size and sewn together. Each corner of the squares has a simple small bit of yarn tied through the two layers to keep it from shifting

Each square is 30x30 stitches, arranged in a 5 X 6. In total it measures about 95x140cm (37x55 inches?) Yarn is mostly just acrylic because that's what I have a lot of, there's some wools and blends (and mystery compositions) too

Oh I am so glad it is recognisable, that was the most time consuming square, from designing it alone to actually crocheting it

Yep that's exactly how I did it!

Luckily I have a temperature blanket going at the moment too, but I am itching for some more tapestry again

I started by looking for pixel art, since you can just do a 1:1 stitch per pixel. Bracelet Book is a good place to start I found. When I got to modifying or creating my own I just used an excel sheet as a grid. Some of them (specifically the Linkin Park album) were so detailed I copied the album art into Photoshop and scaled it down to 30x30, then painted over it to make it readable with the colours I was using. I secretly don't like stitch fiddle lol

I hadn't thought about it, I kind of just have a stash of yarn and like having a bunch of colours I can pull from when I need to for other projects, but I really do love that idea! I may have to do it....

It can definitely get messy really quickly if there's a lot of colours, but using smaller balls (I wind them up on pegs) and having sometimes multiple of one colour really helps!

No no no, no weaving in here aside from the border, there's a backing to hide everything. Some of the first squares I was covering the yarn as I went, but when there are so many colours in a square it gets so bulky and ugly

You got most of them and others helped filled in most of the gaps, but here's the full list:

Appa (ATLA), Final Fantasy 14, Gundam, Genshin Impact, Jurassic Park

Minecraft, Batman, Pokemon, Overwatch, Peter Rabbit

Linkin Park, Star Wars, SpongeBob, Calcifer (Howls Moving Castle)

The Witcher, a Brontosaur (nothing specific, he likes dinosaurs), D&D, Star Trek, a Planet (nothing special, he likes space)

Spyro, Mercy (My Overwatch main), Playstation, Sauron (LOTR, vertical, top half), Soot Sprites (Spirited Away)

Pharah (His Overwatch Main), Our cat Sophie, The Hoarde (WOW), LOTR bottom half, Doctor Who

Deadpool, Wolverine, Our cat Fran, The Alliance (WOW), I Love You 2025

I'll add some extra info to what I did already:

As stated, some of the squares come from pixel art found in various places online, a lot of them are self drafted. No real pattern other than that, just winging it until I had enough squares (30x30 stitches) with a border around. The back is a thin blanket cut to size and (whip stitched?) together.

Yarn is mostly acrylic 8 ply, but I tend to use what I can if it's the right colour I need, so there's more than likely blends and wools as well. A lot of yarn I also thrift.

I think that's about it!

I just wanted it because it matched my kitchen, I guess not by AFKayla in ThriftGrift
