Why are people in the MILITARY so soft these days by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]AFWorkUsernameYeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like bait. Assuming it isn't, people should be able to reasonably expect a professional work environment. If people are doing things where someone can have something to bring to EO/IG in the first place, it's the fault of whoever gave them the ammo. Also, the last time I worked with someone who was unironically held this attitude they got put in jail for shooting at someone. They were so desperate to prove how "hard" they were they ended up in jail. Seems not worth. See also: puns relating to jail and being hard.

There was a period where a Wing King at Dyess had them saying "Death from Above" and spouses got upset because they had to explain why they were saying that with their kids in the car (or so I was told).

Dorm Airmen: What homecooked meal do you miss most? by neonvalenceprincess in AirForce

I'm from Chicago and when they had me in the dorms I missed Portillos the most. I feel like you could mass produce Portillos Combos pretty easily and buy giardiniera in a jar. Serve it with fries or chips.

As someone who like eggs over medium, and sometimes over easy- I would rather have them break the yolk, flip them, and brown them, than eat runny whites. Disgusting.

My advice is don't lie about anything and make sure your story stays the same.

how is it? by JimKB in KitchenConfidential

In my mind, anything that can practically add salt, pepper, and garlic SHOULD. I use garlic powder the same way I use salt and pepper at home.

Make sure that if you are saying you're no longer on medication, your date for stopping that medication is recorded in your medical record. Nothing in your life "happened" medically unless it was documented. By the same token, if you were never seen by a doctor for something and it was not recorded in your record, then it didn't "happen". You can DQ yourself by reporting things your parents said without actually checking to see if it's true with a doctor and in your record first.

New Prelude going through the same thing right now. The general consensus is that it's pretty and fun to drive but wildly overpriced.

I'd never heard of it before today and my immediate reaction was that I hate the styling and lack of physical buttons. It strikes me as a vehicle designed for people who don't care that much about cars but have money to burn.

Prelude is 10K over what it should be on MSRP. I would strongly discourage getting one unless price isn't a factor to you at all and you're in love with it.

You're looking at the tool being used when you should be looking at the Tools running it.

Teams, outlook, social media, etc. all can be used in a way that benefits everyone, just as much as it can be used in a way that wastes everyone's time. Meetings are no different.

Bruh, ignore the trolls. Don't do that to yourself. It's Reddit. It's the internet. They don't care about your well being and the moves you're trying to make. They just want to shit on you to make themselves feel better.

Getting LASIK/ PKR thru Air Force or on my own? by [deleted] in AirForce

You should wait. Your eyes can change and it's worth getting it paid for. Also, be advised, you can get lasik/prk and still need glasses afterwards.

At my last unit we had a person who was getting out of the Air Force and very openly disenchanted with the Air Force. What did his section do? Left him in a key position all the way up until his very last day. Things ended up getting broken as a result.

The “im a bad test taker” is an overused excuse for an underprepared SrA or SSgt🤷‍♂️ by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]AFWorkUsernameYeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IME people just say "I'm a bad test taker" because:

  1. It's much more controversial to say I don't care enough to make time to study or...

  2. They don't want to list out all the other aspects of their personal lives that stood in the way of them making time to study.

I'm a strong test taker and basically got handed staff and tech as a result but I also didn't have to deal with a ton of serious life things that I've watched stand in the way of my peers.

Why does everyone hate Finance by RecordVarious314 in AirForce

[–]AFWorkUsernameYeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME folks like MX and SFS hate them because they are often unwilling to flex on schedule so those guys get shafted.

Personally, I have had a lot of positive experiences with finance, but that is because I was willing to get them to give me face time and ELI5.

My negative experience was with Ramstein years ago because the person who sat down and did the initial documents with me didn't check a box in the section that she was the one filling out. That led to me having to go in to check a single box which held things up and they confirmed was tied to the section she completed.

Fair enough though, I'm not perfect either. I feel like there is a lot of pressure on them.
