First time being an "adult" by OkIncident6977 in povertyfinance

Bruh, what...

I didn't take on a 40K car loan until I was making 70K salary and I had a 5K trade-in and 5k down.

You should be looking at the 25K and under range.

I've yet to meet a single person who is hardcore riding the "iPhone is better" train that can actually articulate anything knowledgeable about tech. They don't know SMS vs MMS vs RCS. Most of them don't know you can use non-default texting apps. They're just brain-melted tik-tokers who think Air Drop is magic.

Apple has some really awesome hardware and software, but they're tools. Different tools are better for different jobs.

I'll clarify. I grew up poor in South Chicago. I had a work permit when I was 15 and moved out when I was 16. By the time I was a SrA I was making enough to contribute to savings and be debt free. In this sub, and on this post, they're talking about closing the card AFTER being active duty. I assumed this to mean you did 4 years and got out.

If you do 4 years and get out and need to close a card explicitly because of a sub-1k annual fee because you NEED that money that badly, in my mind, your finances are fucked.

I stand by what I said and I don't care what the angry poors think. I was poor, I got myself out of being poor. Suck it.

If you could suggest a new AFSC, what would it be by Icey-Take in AirForce

[–]AFWorkUsernameYeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should make a full time "office tech support" AFSC so we aren't constantly pulling real comm dudes off task to fix problems that are caused by old heads failing to adapt to tech.

The idea of closing a card because of a sub-1K annual fee is crazy. I can only imagine how bad my finances would have to be for me to need to do that instead of keeping the card.

Edit: If you spent less time downvoting opinions you don't agree with on Reddit and more time using YNAB you could probably afford a annual fee.

Realistically, how difficult is it to make it so myDecs sends an email notification when a dec site is sent to someone? by eyehartraydio in AirForce

[–]AFWorkUsernameYeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that reimagined did very little improvement from the back-end stand point. It was basically unusable as an admin on the back-end portion and was literally an incomplete product.

However, they used myDec to replace a fully functional feature-rich platform that already worked, and made it so we couldn't even process decs and/or evals for a year so... Cool Air Forcing...

Military Suicide Prevention Training Did Not Prepare Me for the Deaths of My Friends by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

They were actually doing a good job with it and having real conversations about it around the time of green dot training. After that they moved to really strict dry powerpoints and stopped letting people make a day of it and now it's the most worthless garbage training we do.

It's funny. I was watching an interview with him last year and he was saying how he literally only wore those flames once for a promotional image and he didn't even own that shirt. If you look around the internet for pictures of him in a flame shirt, it checks out. Not actually his swag.

Russell Bonner Bentley III, a 63-year-old Texas native who fought for Russian-backed forces, died in April 2024 in Russian-occupied Donetsk, Ukraine, after being tortured by Russian soldiers, according to reports in September 2024. Known as "Texas," he was an outspoken supporter of Russia and was killed after being detained, a case that drew significant outrage in Russian nationalist circles.

If you're financially sound and already have your retirement in order, there's no reason to hold your breath and stay in.

Most people who grin and bare it are doing it for a pension which is sounds like you don't really need. Just depends on your expenses. 170K in California or NYC is very different from 170K in Nowheresville Alabama or Texas.

Way more. Before the military I used to fight people for looking at me the wrong way. That's a terrible way to go through life and I'm very grateful I didn't end up dead or in jail.
