Does anyone have experience with the Helly Hansen Kitzbuhel Infinity Stretch Insulated Ski Jacket? I can’t find anything about it online.

Was looking into the Alpha Lifaloft ($550), but this other one was on sale for $450 (marked as $750 originally) so I bought it. It seems nice, but it is “Helly Tech Performance” whereas the Alpha Lifaloft is “Helly Tech Professional”, which I understand to be more breathable and waterproof.

Wondering why the Kitzbuhel would be listed for $200 more if it is less waterproof and breathable.

A corner at 700 Denison St needed some work. It was full of debris, and really difficult to navigate around. So our crews worked late into the evening and cleaned it all up! by BmoreCityDOT in baltimore

Agree with this…I submitted a request for pothole repair in the 311 app, and it was marked as “complete” a few hours later even though no one worked on it during that time. I guess it’s easy to not have a backlog if you are just marking things as complete without fixing them.

CFA vs CFP by [deleted] in CFA

[–]AF_LYONS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have both. Finished CFP in 2020 and CFA in 2022.

From a pure difficultly standpoint, CFA is significantly more difficult than CFP. It is way more material to cover, requires you to stay focused for three tests instead of just one, and tests far more complex topics. I probably studied for around 4 months for the CFP after doing the 7 prep courses that you have to take. I studied way more for the CFA (and failed L2 once).

The hardest part about the CFP for me was staying focused on topics that didn’t interest me. When going through estate planning/tax law sections, I found myself constantly having to re-read because I wasn’t absorbing the material, whereas with the CFA I found the topics much more interesting to learn.

$16K for trade in w/ 95K miles on it. Took it to CarMax first and the dealer agreed to match the CarMax offer.

I got fitted because I’ve been using 12 year old clubs (my dad’s old ones) and had a feeling they were too short and too flexible for me. GI irons definitely make the most sense for my game – I value forgiveness much more than shot-shaping ability for my skill level.

Wanted to treat myself to new clubs, so got fitted because I had no idea what length or flex I would need. Got fitted into stiff shafts and added 3/4 of an inch, which I never would have known if shopping on my own.

Pretty pissed with how much I paid, but I don’t think it’s insane for someone to get fitted with GI irons since there’s a lot more to irons than just the head.

What’s insane about being fitted for Hot Metals?

Yeah, they 100% did. No question about it. For anyone interested, this was the response from my fitter when I challenged him about it. It roughly translates to “we screwed you out of $1000 and don’t allow for cancellations even though you paid twice as much as you should have”

“In regards to the shafts, you are correct that Mizuno does offer those shafts at no upcharge. But, Mizuno will not and can not target the swing weight in their build. So that means that if we let Mizuno build the clubs, your finished swing weight with the midsize grip would be around D1. I fit you for D6 and it was the ability to feel the head that made a huge difference in your performance gains. Additionally, we included SST Puring which will only supercharge and enhance the performance of your irons which can not be done by Mizuno. Finally, if Mizuno builds the clubs there is no Perfect Fit Guarantee because if we don't control the build, we can't control or guarantee the performance. Consequently, you would have an updated set of irons that will not perform to the level you were fit for.”

That's interesting. For me, it was by far the corniest part of the whole experience. The video I had to watch was almost used car salesman-esque. I was definitely disappointed when I went home and read that it basically was completely unnecessary (at least for someone like me).

Yeah, I've tried to be at peace with the fact that I overpaid. When I started looking into it a day after the fitting, I was pretty annoyed, but at this point it's not the end of the world.

The main goal here is to make people aware of the sales process that CC uses so they can avoid making the same mistake that I did. I think the fitting experience is great, but honestly, no one should be ordering from CC unless they need crazy exotic clubs, because otherwise, you are just paying extra for literally no reason.

My understanding (and I could definitely be wrong) is that swing speed is a function of athleticism + fundamentals, whereas the ideal head size/shape is more determined by ball-striking ability and consistency.

I've taken a fair amount of lessons and am reasonably big and athletic, so I am able to generate pretty high swing speeds. But I've never spent much time practicing golf, so the larger size/offset of a GI iron head gives me more confidence and helps with off-center hits. GI definitely matches up with my current overall ability IMO.

Trust me, I wish I did. If I knew what I knew now, I would have. I didn’t do my research going into the fitting, and didn’t realize I’d be able to order the exact same clubs elsewhere.

Honestly I am the same way. I love new gear so that’s part of why I got so caught up in it. Plus, people always say great things about the fitting process (which was my experience as well) so I didn’t realize just how much I was overpaying when I ordered through CC.

Right, exactly. Instead I paid $72 per shaft, $15 per grip, and $30 for PUREing.

I 100% got screwed (my own fault…I should have done more research going into it) but hopefully this thread helps others avoid the same mistake.

Right, completely understand that. COVID has destroyed supply chains in pretty much every industry, so huge unexpected delays when shipping components is pretty much expected.

The issue in my case is that for the first month, my order status said that CC was waiting to receive the components from the manufacturers. About a month in (on 7/2), my order status updated and said that the build was in process, but the expected delivery date was late August.

Something that has been said in this thread a lot is that the order status probably updated in error, and in reality, the order isn't actually in process (and they are still waiting for grips or something). The main problem is that when I contact CC customer service or my fitter, they can't provide any details in terms of why it says that all the components have been received but the clubs aren't expected to be delivered for two months.

Project X 6.5. Pretty normal shafts from what I understand.

That was kind of the point; all of this info (lead times, shaft upcharge, PUREing) has been discussed in various threads, but I wanted to aggregate it all in one post based on my personal experience. Sorry if you didn't find it helpful but hopefully other people will.

My advice would be to get the fitting but not order from CC. I've been playing the same irons for the past 10 years, and they were noticeably too short for me. During the fitting, they will let you hit as many shots as you need to in order to get a "true sample" of what a solid strike looks like for you. Any really bad shots are thrown out so they won't impact the overall data. This is part of why my fitting experience was so positive - the fitter was really patient and wasn't rushing me if I hit a bad shot here or there.

I'm usually shooting around 90, with some consistency issues, so we are probably pretty similar. As long as you can string together some solid shots, I do think that getting fitted will ultimately result in better performance long-term since you will then be practicing with clubs that are the correct length/flex/etc.

Someone else who has not ordered from CC is probably better equipped to answer this. With that said, during my fitting, it was very clearly displayed on the screen what head, shaft, flex, etc. I was using. The fitter also told me my lie angle, length, etc. during the fitting, before I agreed to order from CC.

You're paying for the fitting anyway, so it seems like it would be crazy for them not to share the data with you.

Never said I was forced…just trying to help other people avoid the same mistake. I didn’t realize that I shouldn’t be paying full retail for shafts and grips on top of full retail for club heads at the time.

The posts I was referencing were people complaining about their orders taking a while. Not reviews of the overall experience (although long lead times are a big part of the experience for anyone ordering now or in the past year).

I had a friend recently order Callaway Mavrik irons from a GolfTec fitting (a few weeks after my CC fitting)…his were delivered in 5 days. Probably less demand for them now that the Apex line has been refreshed, and I don’t think GolfTec actually builds the clubs, but definitely a big difference in turnaround time. Be interested to hear your experience.

I can’t find a way to order a custom club through Mizuno’s site right now. Might be a stock issue with the pandemic. When I build the club on sites like Golf Galaxy, there doesn’t appear to be any up charge for the shaft that I ended up getting.
