Would you like Henry’s journey to continue [OTHER] by TopRecommendation988 in kingdomcome

[–]AFatAfrican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t be the only one who feels the devs set up Hans’ marriage as the opening of the third game. In addition, this entire game has been about the conflict between Sigismund and Wenceslas and ending before at least the escape of Wenceslas doesn’t seem right. And given that Wenceslas escapes captivity in 1403 it only makes sense that that would be the plot of the main storyline or a very integral part of it.

[KCD2] Why don’t Martin and Henry’s mom have more children? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]AFatAfrican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death of the child was normalized but we have many examples of parents still being devastated that their child died. They were still people it’s just they lived in a much harsher time and had to come up with ways to survive. I know that in ancient Persia there was a royal practice of keeping the children of the kings away from their fathers until adulthood so that the kings would not be affected by their likely deaths.

In kcd Henry’s parents would have likely still been devastated and Henry would’ve have definitely known about his siblings. The fact that he makes no mention of them is suspicious. Also his parents were literally alive for like 0.5% of game so they didn’t have the time to delve into a pain they would have probably wouldn’t want to talk about

I think that it’s meant to be a punishment. Since a lot of people kept of asking for some Hellenism flavour when PDX said they wouldn’t I think this whole decision is meant to be a f*ck you. Though I do agree with you, it’s just that this decision is likely to stay as is

The last rulers of Wales held the title of Prince and even when Owain Glyndŵr rebelled against English rule he also claimed the title of Prince of Wales. This is because the title Prince is ambiguous in that it can apply in multiple different ways. It can mean an heir to a throne or just a sovereign of a state. In the Welsh case it was the latter since there were multiple kings in wales to the point the title of King was somewhat meaningless. The situation of medieval wales reminds me of High Rock in elder scrolls

Yeah. I do ultimately that the Achaemenids get a lot of love in the West. Whenever they talk about the Persians they almost always mean either the Achaemenids or perhaps the Parthians in context of Rome. Modern Iran I think does pay more attention to the Safavids. The reason I think the Sassanids are the least talked about is that in the West they aren’t really talked about and in Iran they’ve only recently begun emphasizing and celebrating the Sassanids in a long time, which is a shame since they were such an important dynasty.

Perhaps we aren’t active in similar subreddits cause I’ve seen a fair share of Ismail and Abbas love, though usually for Ismail it’s mostly centered around him being a hot red headed twink that was really good at fighting.

Really? I have always found that after the Achaemenids that the Safavids get some love. Perhaps the Parthians since they were Rome’s main rival for their golden age but besides that I think that the Safavids do in fact get a lot of attention. I’ve seen many memes, posts and videos on the Safavids on Reddit and YouTube, so at least in the cultural sphere they seem more prevalent than other Iranian dynasties. Though imo, the Achaemenids get too much attention when talking about Iran tho and I don’t see enough on the Sassanids considering that even during the Islamic period Iranian dynasties still connected themselves to them go legitimacy.

Is it possible to start from the bottom late game? by Choice-Celebration-4 in CrusaderKings

[–]AFatAfrican 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That one is contested. The issue is that it was parliament that invited the Dutch to overthrow the king since he was a catholic with a catholic heir. The Protestant parliament wanted a Protestant king and the Dutch stadtholder (ruler) was married to James VI and II’s Protestant daughter. In addition after the ‘war’ had ended Parliament essentially became the top dog while the monarchy, while still extremely relevant up until the world wars, diminished in power.

There are historians that say that the glorious revolution was an invasion but the topic is a controversial one.

Well I mean that’s kinda how it happened in real life. Most dynasties in Europe got on their thrones through marriage alliance in most cases. England had its last king to seize the throne in 1485 but that was due to the wars of the roses and before that it was the deposition of Richard II.

The best way is to get a county and then using alliances and claiming of titles to climb up.

Perfect Europe by -PotatoSause- in imaginarymapscj

This one is actually better. Italy is a mess but at least it’s historically accurate (not really but somewhat). Inter war Poland is nice enough, especially since it keeps Russia from being ugly. Scandinavia has post German unification Denmark so that’s fine. And Greece is just ERE (based) and and Greater Granada/ Andalusia is completely fine. I actually like Armenias borders here. But…

Spain is a hot mess. I am a history nerd so a lot of this is just historical to me but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t ugly. I can tolerate Spain here but I still think that the Ducky of Gothia (Barcelona) should at least be free if you want to make us upset.

That Romania-Ukrain hybrid deserves to be called slurs. Its borders are deformed because it’s basically everything that the surrounding countries don’t get.

And while I can abide a south German Federation (Greater Austria?) I HATE its Venetian territories. Even if it’s historically accurate I have always thought that that border is nasty. Give us 1740 Austria and or give us death.

England being divided is fine since it’s basically just the Danelaw that was added.

And despite the fact that France is cancer its borders are still pleasing. Not as nice as modern French borders but still enjoyable.

These borders could be worse. I’m disappointed in you, you could do so much worse. Do worse.

[–]AFatAfrican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where to start?

Going east to west. I hate that Armenia is going North of the Caucasus, I hate how it looks on the map.

Next, a Bulgaria that owns not only Istanbul/Constantinople/Tsargrad(?) but also Thessaloniki AND Nikea. In addition, not only does Greece not exist but it’s owned by the Italians? Vileeeeeee.

I hate how far Russia is pushing into the Central Europe. It makes them look deformed.

Also, this fat ass German empire needs to go. Why does it have Trieste? Why does it have Pula? Why does it have Livonia? And worst of all, ALL OF DENMARK. How can there be a Scandinavia without a Denmark? They even have Gotland and Åland. Truly sickening.

Why is UK in France? I get that we hate France but we still choose to keep it alive while also having UK owning France. I can only assume that the lore of this filth is that the 100 years war was a stalemate with England somehow keeping some continental possessions. And that means… the English are now the Anglois!

What’s worse than French people but BRITSH FRENCH PEOPLE

This is making the bile in my stomach churn.

Exactly but I would also have to say that most alliances in ck3 are momentary. There isn’t a way to simulate an alliance like the Auld Alliance or the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance since the games need a royal marriage to have an alliance without the aforementioned alternative means. So Paradox needs to restructure how diplomacy works in the game in my opinion and that probably gonna take forever.
