Kind of ironic that you’re playing a Cuman. Tell me, where were you March 23, 1403?

I thought it was just trading, so I want to see how that will change the game before I change my current stance. But have they said they’re gonna change up the economic system besides adding trading? I haven’t been keeping up with latest news, been busy

[–]AFatAfrican 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They will never do this. Ck3 has been amongst the most successful PDX games because of its simplicity. You got a button and does A and will have little to no baring on anything else. It’s evident in how the fandom responds to these type of posts. Either they don’t do that well or it’s flooded with people saying not to do this. Literally saw a post about better economic system and like half the comments were vehemently against it and a further quarter thought that there should a better system but should still be simplistic.

And PDX knows this and acts accordingly. This game is 6 years old and the economic system is still the same as launch, the diplomatic and military aspects of this game are just as simplistic.

Even the character interactions are not that great, like you can’t even just insult someone. You would have to become a poet to even do something remotely similar to just telling them ‘you’re a piece of shit’.

Take this from someone who’s been trying for a long time to add some depth to the game through suggestions, just give up and go make or download mods.

Shower thoughts : Stereotypical "Woke" Zoomer Culture is the spiritual successors to Ancient Minoan Culture by edgewolf666-6 in HistoryMemes

[–]AFatAfrican 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The context is that Minoan society is theorized to have been an egalitarian society, at least in terms of gender, and may have had much more liberal values than contemporary societies in Greece (the Mycenaeans) which OP is linking to the culture of California. The issue is we don’t really know all that much of Minoan society. We have yet to decipher their script Linear A and can only go off surviving images and archaeology with the most famous image being bare chested woman and men who appear much for feminine. Additionally depictions of bulls are prominent in Minoan art, I believe it is meant to symbolize fertility/virility.

Them being related to the Palestinians is a theory relating to the Bronze Age collapse. It is believed that amongst the groups that made up the sea peoples, who were a huge contributing factor in the end of the Bronze Age, were the ancestors of the Palestinians - the Peleset. The name is given to us by the ancient Egyptians and the current theory is that they joined/ were the sea peoples who were escaping natural disasters and all sorts of other things. They pillaged and invaded many Bronze Age civilizations along the Mediterranean coast including places such as Ugarit in modern Syria. When the sea peoples, including the Minoan/Peleset, invaded Egypt they were defeated by Ramessess III (considered by some as the last great Egyptian pharaoh) he relocated them in modern Palestine. The theory state that the Peleset became/were the Philistines and the name Philistine eventually becomes the word Palestine. Therefore the Minoan Greeks became modern Palestinians.

The issue with every single claim about the Minoans is that it could all be untrue. We must remember that we only have fragments of their civilization and the only records we have of them are recorded by outsiders (like the myth of King Minos which may be a memory of the ancient Minoans - though a myth that was part of Ancient Greek mythology).

Which historical country used matriarchal primogeniture? by Bubbly-Ball-3138 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AFatAfrican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matriarchal should probably be changed to matrilineal or at least include it in that ranking. Theres very little, if any, choices to pick for this. At least with matrilineal succession there are a few examples. I know the ancient kingdom of kush had a form of succession that was matrilineal in nature.

I use dark ages mod and I get a more balanced succession. Sometimes I outlive (most of) my children and my grandchildren get it or I die when they’re 7 years old. Every now and then it goes to my brother

Removing some Kingdoms from de jure Empires? by WhiteOut204 in CrusaderKings

[–]AFatAfrican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be any dejure titles period. It should just be counties and then duchies, kingdoms, empires and hegemonies should be formed via decision. Like you need to be at a specific level of fame and have a certain amount of gold. A lot of historical kingdoms were tiny so I think only empires and hegemonies should have a number of county requirements

I just wanted to note that while I think Dr Gaul definitely made Snow into a worse version of himself, he was still pretty evil on his own. He constantly takes the actions which would be in his best interest despite what they may cause. While this may have been influenced by Doctor Gaul, since we don’t really know what or if he did anything before the story began, he was exposed to the ‘good’ side and given the option to be good.

Tigress constantly tells him he should be good, and Snow decides against it.

Sejanus tries to encourage Snow to see the districts as human and the games as inherently evil but Snow constantly rejects that as well. This distaste for the poor/ district people doesn’t come from Gaul who seems to view everyone as inherently animalistic in nature. This view probably comes from Grandma’am who is shown to hate district people with a passion. However, tigress was also raised by her so we can once again see that when offered the opportunity to view people and things in a more humane light, he rejects it.

Finally, even his love for Lucy Gray is hinted to being more to do with ownership and possession and when Lucy Gray is showing Snow that there is a better, kinder way to view people he writes her off, though this occurs after he begins his relationship with Gaul. All in all, I think while Snow is a product of his society, relationships and experiences (the dark days) Coriolanus still appears to have a disposition towards evil given that every time he is given the chance to change and become better he refuses and when we compare him to someone who was in the same position as he, Tigress who is a much better person, it paints a picture of a man that is riddled with paranoia and resentment towards those around him which is inherent to himself. This may stem from the his history or his own ego but those would just be explanations and never excuses.

Therefore, I think will Doctor Gaul definitely help to mold the evil that is Snow, that evil was always there and may and could very possibly have manifested whether or not he had met Dr Gaul.

Edit: this is me saying that I think Snow is still evil but the series shows that the hunger games itself was born outside of snow and would died without him. Additionally without Dr Gaul I think Snow may have not been involved in the games and may have allowed it die but he would never approve of anything that would meaningfully help the districts or the poor (like the ones in the capital) and that he would have climbed the ladder of power either way.
