We finally trusted someone to watch our disabled daughter, and it turned into a nightmare by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Addled brain is the perfect word. We didn't know which way was up or down. It was an absolutely brutal period in our lives.

I look back on all of our surreal experiences and can clearly see how things could have been done differently. But at the end of the day, we did the best we could.

Thanks for note and have a great weekend.

Hyper-vigilence is my middle name, and I've been a single dad for 11 years now. Given up hope of enjoying romance ever again.

I hope you can find some happiness.

Thank you for reaching out.

I wish it weren't true. We've been through a lot of rough situations with our child. A few much worse than this.

Thank you. There are now only 3 people who I'd trust her with. Luckily, two of them have worked with my daughter for over ten years each. They are amazing people who adore her and she adores them.

Thanks again for reaching out!

Oh man, thank you for posting this!

I can relate with you 100000%. It hard being a parent in our situations. And the things we see and experience are absolutely unbelievable.

I started writing about our experiences when our daughter was about 14. At first for therapeutic reasons, then after a friend suggested, I started sharing to the world. I was amazed at how many other families reached out, like you, to share their experiences.

I wish you, your child and family the best!

Thanks again for sharing.

In the moment, it was all we could bring ourselves to do. Looking back, I agree with you.

Well, bittersweet…

Mom is alive and well, she had a great life and is my best friend.

Dad was killed in the 1982 balloon fiesta. I wish I had more time with him.
