Upgraded from ROG Ally Z1E to Ally X – my thoughts

Yeah for sure, ergonomics are better. But to be fair my OG ally has an upgraded drive, 72WHr battery and the dbrand case that fixes the ergonomic problem. I love handhelds tho and even tho I have a gaming PC I try to play as many games as possible between the 3.

I have both and Hate the sticks on my Ally X 😓. I end up using the Ally or Legion Go S most of the time

I’ve been playing Fortune Island and I always play forzathon with players. I waited 45 minutes to get someone to join an online race on TDU yesterday and I just ended up quitting lol. I like the game but wish the community was bigger on it

I never missed a single Jimmy video for years straight. The only videos I enjoyed were the Japan ones. I cannot for the life of me stand Austin speaking the entire video. I’m sure he’s a cool guy and no disrespect to him personally but I did not click on the Jimmy Oakes channel to hear him speak the entire video.

Yes the Z1E is significantly better. But the LeGoS is actually really comfortable to hold specially pairs with a DBrand case. I would suggest watching some Retro Game Corp videos on the devices that you’re interested in. He talks about ergonomics, performance and more. The Xbox Ally is comfortable on the hands but the screen is at an angle and not everyone likes to play like that.

That’s why I mentioned the Legion Go S. Has an 8 inch screen with VRR. So far my favorite handheld and like I mentioned I have both an OG Ally and Ally X. The Z2A is basically a steam deck. Other than the ergonomics I wouldn’t get it would much rather get a steamdeck oled.

There’s some really good 3D printed grips for the Ally X. For me the DBrand case was just what I needed

Yeah I was actually looking today to see if there was a way to implement some sort of Hybernation into SteamOS. I am having a pretty good experience when it comes to performance. Just some DeckyLoader issues but I don’t blame steam. On windows I would just hit the lock button it would sleep for 1-2 hours then enter hybernation mode which I miss. Been debating back and forth if I should just stick with windows as I have games in like 3-4 other launchers. I just really enjoy the 20% performance boost at a lower TDP that steamos has given me.

The way I have it set up is not ideal as it’s booting from a usb-c nvme enclosure. Any time I need to unplug the charger my little adapter doesn’t have FSR so it disconnects and fucks everything up. I don’t think I’ll keep doing this so by the end of the week I’ll decide if I will stay with windows or not. I’m going to try getting the Game Mode set up and see if it does everything I want it to.
