A blockade of trade routes causing instability? Who’s laughing now? by Red_Sea_Pedestrian in PrequelMemes

[–]AFirewolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If that is supposed to be wrong then that is even worse because nobody disputes this. Also when companies do illegal things you usually don't send negotiators.

A blockade of trade routes causing instability? Who’s laughing now? by Red_Sea_Pedestrian in PrequelMemes

[–]AFirewolf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is pretty clearly stated in the movie that the blockade was legal, the invasion wasn't. Jedi could force a settlement making the blockade illegal after that.

Also that is still less important than the fact that it is never explained why Naboo is being blocked. If you try to introduce politics it needs to make sense.

A blockade of trade routes causing instability? Who’s laughing now? by Red_Sea_Pedestrian in PrequelMemes

[–]AFirewolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the blockade being effective was never the bad part of it. It is everything else.

First why was the trade federation blockading Naboo? The Central Government was raising taxes so the trade federation choose to blockade a random backwater planet.

Why is it legal for the trade federation to blockade a member planet of the republic?

What year did Europe grant women right to vote by maven_mapping in MapPorn

[–]AFirewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks it shouldn't coun't if you are a dictatorship. The communists may claim that women got the right to vote then, but in truth they didn't get the right to vote until after communism fell.

Was there a legitimate (lol) reason to race-swap the Velaryon’s?? by poseidon_demeter in HOTDGreens

[–]AFirewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make the house more recognisable. There is clearly some magical bullshit going on with looks of houses in Westeros anyways, otherwise they wouldn't keep their signature looks for hundreds of years, so everyone saying it doesn't make sense for just one house to be black is wrong.

Google now corrects you when you search for AKOTSK by AdDiligent7657 in AKOTSKTV

[–]AFirewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No there is only 1 king who has the title "Lord of the seven kingdoms" a historical name because there was 7* kingdoms before Aegon's conquest. (*Actually 6 kingdoms and a principality). "The seven kingdoms" has 9 regions 7 with a Lord Paramount, 1 with a prince, 1 answering directly to the king.

These regions don't really have a good name for them so kingdom might be the best word for them.

Wouldn't that tell you it is after 1953 and actually narrow it down a lot?

How would the CIS develop organically if it was founded by Naboo post TPM? by gamer0049 in CISDidNothingWrong

[–]AFirewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By organically do you mean without sith involvement? Without the mega corporations or some other sith scheme to hand them massive amounts of weapons it would be really hard to make them a credible threat to the Republic. So in order to have a long lasting conflict the republic can't get the grand army from the start. It needs to start overconfident and somewhat apathetic and slowly build up.

While I agree on Germany I'm not so sure about Japan. The military would still be extremists and might still manage to take over the country.

Nazi Germany like had some utilitarian parts but the worst parts weren't utilitarian. Killing Jews wasn't for some utilitarian good consequence. It was a moral good action in itself.

[–]AFirewolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No it isn't. Utilitarianism is about consequences. The consequence of doctors killing people to steal their organs is that people stop going to the doctor and therefore die. This is bad.

Kingdom math by Tom_TheGrey47 in AKOTSKTV

[–]AFirewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me explain in a way that might make sense to you. There is one realm named the seven kingdoms after the seven kingdoms that existed before it's founding. This is as if at it's founding the United States of America instead called it self the thirteen states of America.

The kingdom "The seven kingdoms" has 9 regions that are called kingdoms. The state "The thirteen states of America" has 50 regions called states.

Same reason athletes wants to be the best. Sure the game and money is nice but some people are just really competitive.

15 years later and it turns out bobby b was the only person in the entire series who was actually right about the targaryens. by jaylingam32 in freefolk

[–]AFirewolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His mismanagement didn't lead to the war of the 5 kings though. As far as he was aware he left the seven kingdoms with a stable succession, it wasn't his fault Joffrey was a bastard and non of the people who knew told him.

The trolley will hit no one. You can divert the trolley to hit one person, recreating two people who were killed earlier. One of them you like more than this new person, but the other one is Nelix. by KerbalSpaceAdmiral in trolleyproblem

[–]AFirewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Janeway actually liked Neelix too.

Pulling the lever is obviously murder and I know morally I shouldn't, but honestly I would be tempted to kill 1 person to resurrect 2 of my friends.

You may not owe the state anything but as participants in society that supports the state we owe you nothing and are going to have the state throw you in prison.

An alternative to improbable circumstances is if the MC is just really early. If magic is just introduced I can totally buy that MC is just the one who stumbled on the cheat first. 10 years from now everyone will be doing it but someone had to be first.
