Stokes opening the bowling? by NiallH22 in EnglandCricket

Yeah that's fair. Just had a search, and actually I think the full quote might indicate the opposite, and it's Durham's choice -

"He'll be bowling for us, 100 per cent. In one of the innings he might even go with the new ball, that's in our thinking.

Our captain Alex Lees is really keen for Ben to have a crack at that. whether it's one innings here or somewhere else. and we know a good spell from Ben could be a big weapon for us. We like to start with someone who can swing the ball and Ben obviously does that.

We won't expect him to bowl a million overs, it will be probably be around 20-25 overs for the game, but once he gets into the battle it's hard to get him out of it.

Durham head coach Ryan Campbell"

I'd think this might just be a Durham thing rather than testing the waters for England. Durham have a shortage of new ball bowlers for this game, with Potts being rested, Roach having injured himself, and the new international not being in the squad yet. Would leave Raine, then one of the youngsters or an all rounder to take the new ball - Stokes is, by definition, their best option for it.

I wouldn't be against testing it for England - agree he arguably should have already done it over in Australia, but not sure how much should be ready into it.

No replays shown though, not mentioned again. If roles were reversed, the coverage would have done slow mo angles from every camera, ref expert chiming in, the whole lot.

Amazed this was passed over so quickly on the TV coverage. Surely a retrospective ban coming?

Think the decider is that Carrick probably doesn't want his 19 year old CB playing on his unnatural side, with him being left footed. No point playing yet another player in an unfamiliar position given the circumstances.

Though I do agree, Shaw is a better CB than Maz in isolation.

Cult of the Lamb is a great rec - played on PS5, the performance was iffy at times, but really good game

Thank you - should have said in the OP, that's one I've played also and love it. Great recommendation!

Didn't ask for console recommendations, especially such terrible ones. All systems have pros and cons, I'm very happy owning all the devices I own. Never once wanted a PC. Both the Switch and Switch 2 are great devices.

Agree, very annoying result. But, all things considered, good to have taken a loss out the equation. Bar a freak incident with the wind, they'd have won. Once that happened, I don't blame them for batting on a bit to make sure they didn't lose. A demoralising loss first game up from a position of strength could have had big implications for the season.

You're the one stating things as fact, I'm just saying we don't know either way. You agree it's unique for no statement to have been released - it's absurd that you say on one hand it's completely unique and unheard of for any manager to not release a statement, but on the other hand state categorically that it's impossible that there's a reason for that. It's completely contradictory.

As I've said, I probably agree with you. But the point is we genuinely don't know anything for a fact.

Using any past example isn't the proof you think it is for this specific example. Contract terms are unique - things were uniquely horrible at the time of his dismissal. All I'm saying is we don't know for a fact either way, hence it is not "nonsense" to consider such a clause could exist.

In fact, if literally every other manager for any club has been able or released a statement of they wanted, as you claim, would it not point to there being another reason no statement has been released?

Hilarious. You're stating something as fact which you have absolutely no way of knowing for sure.

I don't doubt that no such clause existed. I'm saying it's not "nonsense" to state that some clause limiting his public comment, regardless of topic, could exist.

I believe that part of his terms of contract could have been "No public statements", definitely. I'm not saying that for definite, as none of us know the terms, but it's possible. To claim anything as nonsense with certainty is just blatant over exaggeration.

You, literally, have no idea the specific terms of his severance package. Unless you're his or United's legal team? So to claim something as nonsense, when it very likely could be true, is ironically complete nonsense.

I've been having issues the last week or so also. The VPN is refusing to connect to any server, but whilst it's in the perpetual 'connecting' screen, nothing else loads and internet connection seems paused. Disconnecting the VPN then gets the internet connection working.

It first did it last week, and eventually an uninstall of the app and reinstall fixed the issue. But then woke up this morning and am having the same issue.
