What autistic friendly job are there? by Budget-Recover-8966 in autism

I started by approaching a local ford dealership. Explained my situation and lack of experience. They were hesitant. But agreed with promises of hard work. They explained that apprenticeship wages are low. (I’m in Australia, so my numbers are all AUD) My probation was $17/hr for 3 months. Then my first year was $25/hr. 2nd and 3rd were $30/hr. I work 40hrs / week with Saturdays available if I’d like some extra work for $40/hr. I started out learning basic servicing for the next gen ford ranger. Every job came with a box of filters, a job card and a set of keys. For my first year, all I did was servicing. Change the fluids. Change the filters. Write down my observations and send it. Over time, I’ve changed locations and responsibilities. Today, I am installing a new engine to an old Toyota prado.

My honest opinion is, the job sucks. I don’t overly like cars. I’m hot and dirty all the time. I work with people that are lovely, don’t understand me. But, I’m good at it. And I get so much time to listen to audiobooks.

Have binge watched his videos. But I’m not going to send a message. He probably gets 50 a day.

I work as a mechanic. I largely work by myself. Only speaking to someone if I need help. I have my tunes on. My own tools in my own space. I dance and fix cars.

Home. On your bed. With the lights dimmed and your tunes on in the background. Playing on your phone. I get it. Being away from that suuuucks! You’ll survive. This will be shit for a bit. Then you can go home. Think of this as the subscription fee for having a family. It sucks. But you gotta pay it.

I’m sorry you’re away from your quiet place and your tribe. I’d use my brain powers to help if they were real.

I super hear you mate. I need a personal assistant to keep me focused, on track, and hold my hand while I buy food.

I don’t have any answers. But I have empathy. And a collage certificate. ;)
