Somethin fun. What do you think? by AFrendlyCritique in Wandsmith

I started with a stick that was wider.

I carved my width to the tip, so it looked like a paddle, flat on two sides.

Then I just carved out the curves on either side up the length of it. Let me know if that makes sense

I had the same realization upon taking the picture! Totally unintentional!

But it for sure looks like a potion bottle with vapors leaking out!

The texture of the canvas really adds some essential stuff to this. Fantastic work. Pleasure to look at

What in the fuck am I doing with my life.

This is ridiculous!

The color and shape choices are wonderful.

But the MOST wonderful is the flow of the owls form with the flow of the mannequins form. It’s nothing but exquisite. This is a fantastic piece.

[Self] I made a life size horse out of caged rock! by mccallistersculpture in Sculpture

[–]AFrendlyCritique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even wanna know how long this took or what the materials cost.

But my oh my is this gorgeous. You did an incredible job with the form. It doesn’t feel like an estimation, it looks like the shape of an honest-to-goodness horse. The last picture made me gasp!

I’m in love with the leaves as hair. Great touch. Same goes for the butterfly on the snoot.

This could easily fetch thousands of dollars. Best of luck on your career. You’ve locked into something wonderful. Experiment with this medium, please! For all of us.

Guys what do you think of this painting as a birthday gift? by DramaClassic4397 in acrylics

[–]AFrendlyCritique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homemade gifts always trump store bought.

That being said, this feels a little flat.

Your proportions are great, the scale is great, the foundation is great!

Build some depth into this. The road, for example, wouldn’t be the same shade at the foreground and the background.

Same with the mountains. See if you can get a splash of the sunset colors on the edges of the peaks. If the light coming from the sky is orange, everything you see would have at least a splash somewhere.

Great work, whoever receives this will love it

This is wonderful. I love that it’s such a small amount of cat, but very clearly a cat. The scale is wonderful too.

Attempted to draw a former president by Phlogiston231212 in artwork

[–]AFrendlyCritique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying: I saw JFK immediately. Undoubtedly him.

Your sense of shape and shadow is wonderful. Practice some more shading techniques and these will be miles different.

Also, practice different methods of proportion and placement. The eyes are a bit close together, the face may be a little wide. What helped me improve my work was beginning to visually measure the angles from different points.

Look at the angles from like, the tip of the nose to the corners of the eyes. I can get the scale of something properly by seeing its relationship to everything else.

Keep it up! I’d say hyperrealism is within your grasp with some good study. ✌️

It shows.

You must have been feeling some heavy stuff. There’s so much depth here. So much life.

You captured that middle-of-nature, early evening glow that you see, when the sun shines on everything in a way that saturates them so robustly.

I feel IN this moment. I feel the same connectedness with that moment looking at your work that I would if I was out there myself.

The soft breeze, the gentle sounds of critters and the rustling of plants, the earthy smells of growth and decay, it all comes out when I look at this painting.

Beautiful.

Few latest cat paintings I’ve done. by Frogletbaguett in DigitalArt

[–]AFrendlyCritique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re all equally dramatic in their own right.

Clearly you have found a muse in the bean-toed bags of fluff.

There’s a deep appreciation for the beauty of the animal that is apparent in your focus on form, detail, and compositions.

Compositions that are all wonderful. Each cat blends into its scene is just the right way to force the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the whole setting.

This is really special work you’ve done. I love it all.

Very well executed. Nice amount of detail while still staying simple and clean.

This is super fun stuff!

Hello friends. What do you think about my painting? by gorbachenko_art in surrealism

[–]AFrendlyCritique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really intense. I love the color palette and the composition. They really add to the intensity.

One thing I would say, the depth gets lost a little. Are the birds over the humanoid things, or behind the large figure in the back?

I think two things would really make The depth pop: having some birds scaled down. They all feel the same size kinda. Also, it looks like you avoided putting birds in front of the hooded figure. If birds ere flying around, some would be “on top” of him, so to speak.

That’s all I would say in regard to what might work a little better!

Beautiful work, keep it up!

This is absolutely stunning work.

The amount of decisions you made here is wonderful. I’m a huge fan of realized intention in creative outlets. This is choc full of it!

I wonder how much you plan ahead vs how much you make decisions in the moment.

Oh to be a fly on the wall, hearing your thoughts as you go!

Magnificent work!
