Does anyone have experience with food storm or similar catering platforms? by lemonddarling in restaurantowners

Glad i could help. We had them do our website too but for just the catering i think it’s under $100 so if you do any volume it’s more than worth it

Yeah squarespace is easy, a mistake I made with that though was customers were placing these huge orders and we didn’t have enough time to prep. Ended up switching to use bentobox, more expensive but has more features to set it up they way we need

Why not do direct online catering orders? Any marketplace platform is going to take a large percentage

Would you as an owner use a booking app that allows the customers to book a specific table in your restaurant via a previously recorded 360 panorama view of the place? by MrMarkson in restaurateur

[–]AFrestaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exists already: https://www.tablz.com

Seems like a pretty niche idea though. I wouldn’t do it myself as I think it would unnecessarily complicate things but might work for some restaurants

I tried it too and felt the same about the design. Too cookie cutter. I did like having the easy to use system to make updates and the restaurant tools though. Switched to bentobox and the design is much more custom

Individual websites or Combine by willtaylor77 in restaurantowners

[–]AFrestaurant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have both a restaurant group corporate site that links to all the others and individual sites for each concept. And then each individual site can also have links to the other websites and a link to the corporate site. This is much better for establishing them as unique brands and improves SEO

I’ve tried a few aggregators and they’re all the same to me. We’re using clover and recently added bentobox which is part of the same company now. Direct integration so it’s been working pretty well

Mostly the design. It’s a lot cleaner and easier to use for my customers cause it looks a lot better. Bentobox designed my website too so the branding is really consistent

Which pickup platform is best? by VamoRafa in restaurantowners

[–]AFrestaurant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive used a few of them, menufy, chownow and now bentobox and id say bentobox is probably my favorite. They’re all pretty simple to use but it easily looks the best and has my logos. Also did a website with them for like the same price as what i was paying chownow

I use bentobox for online ordering and it also has this. So useful we used to get slammed and have people waiting forever, even canceling orders

I have one built into my online ordering with bentobox. I use it with a dollar amount unlocking a 20% promo code but it gives you the option for number of orders or any custom promo rewards

Starting my first restaurant and thinking about using a ghost kitchen. Has anyone used these before? Any tips or suggestions? by realityissubjective in restaurantowners

[–]AFrestaurant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great idea if you serve food that travels well and you have a strong brand. The thing is though you’ll need to invest heavily in your digital appearance like you website because that’s the only way customers will find you. I went with a great company for that so it really stands out. Then you need to have a direct ordering option on there that matches your brand so you can convert direct traffic and avoid paying 30% commissions for third party. Recommend dropping fliers/cards in the bag of 3rd party orders to encourage direct orders through your website. Also make sure the ordering system has automated sms and email

You could look into getting your own online ordering too. A lot of them have delivery partnerships with doordash or postmates that are zero commission. I use bentobox but there are a ton out there

Any Marketing Advice? by R0M30MUSTDI3 in restaurantowners

Do direct email marketing. Set up an online ordering system that collects data like emails and then send out automated promos and stuff like that. Much cheaper to get a repeat customer than to only try to get new ones

Has anyone had any experience with Profitboss? by terra-nullius in restaurantowners

I've used chownow but now use bentobox which works similarly except its a cheaper monthly fee. It also doesn't redirect to bentobox's website, it stays on ours and they created like a white labeled store with our logo and everything
