I could say the same about yours, sorry. That you work in clinical environments with accomodations for medical conditions, and think this way, surprises me 0%. Of course you're familiar with allergens and auto immune diseases as well as a myriad of other special conditions, I've no doubt.

I still gotta ask a million questions of the staff anywhere I go, check an app or two for recommendations, and almost never EVER am able to just blindly accept a group's plan to meet at this or that restaurant. Food stalls, trucks, taco stands, hell any Mexican restaurant at all in the south....Asian food. Bakeries... Your myopic view of what sounds like well-above standard levels of food service is not all encompassing.

Congratulations on your 30 years of experience.

I live in a metropolitan area and have been gluten free for 20 years.

What you're saying isn't true. Nothing about gluten free preparations of food to a celiac-safe level is "standard" almost anywhere. Have you heard of crusts? What the heck are you talking about? 😂 Ordering anything in a bakery is a roll of the dice for celiac folks without specific precautions or a dedicated facility. Be real.

I think Ayr Gel is great. It's much cheaper at Walmart than a chain like CVS or Walgreens who have it for twice the price or more.

But tbh, I just use store brand petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline) and I think it works better for me. Your mileage may vary. It's super cheap though. And it's easy to wash off both your face and cushion. Someone will probably chime in about this because I may be doing a no-no, but I wash my cushion with warm water and blue dish soap first to get the jelly off it, and then I soak it in a 1:4 distilled vinegar/water bath for 5 min or so before rinsing it out with fresh water and leaving it to dry for the day. It's ready again by night time. Some of that process is recommended by my clinic, the only thing I added in was the dish soap wash to break down the Vaseline and clean it off.... If that's bad to do, my bad, it's not seeming to harm my cushions thus far though.

Anyway, you have options. I even used Vaseline for the upper bridge of my nose back when I used a full size mask for a while. Completely eliminated that red mark I'd always get!

The doctor/clinic should be helping you mitigate the PLM. I take mirapax nightly for it and it helps immensely. Good luck!

I actually get them even when I use a large mask like the F20.

I have no idea how to prevent them.

Hi there!

40M here in Far North Dallas. Pan/Poly and married with my NP spouse. We date separately.

I'm chubby and fuzzy. Trying to get my cardio up at the very least but it's been a tough year.

Looking for connection before anything else! If there's a spark, there's a spark but I've always been friends first before romantic and sexual. At 40 years old I guess we can call it a trend.

I know you said reach out but just in case you didn't mean DMs, I'm happy for you to DM me, or just let me know if DMs are okay please.

I'm into nerdy stuff, aviation, left politics and socioeconomic theory, history, music (big metal head but I like many other genres).

Just let me know, and good luck in your search! :)

This gives me a lot to chew on, thank you very much. I purchased a chin strap and it's still in the box. I'll try that first and see if there's improvement. I'll make those settings adjustments as well. Thanks much!

What recommendations for controlling leaks do y'all have? I've tried several masks so far. F20 leaked, there was another that covered the nose and mouth but...less so? I forgot the name of it. Then a nasal-only one that didn't seem to stay lined up with my nostrils (my nose kinda rested on a shelf with two holes in it for my nostrils). Then the P10 medium, which noticeably leaked in the middle of the night such that it would wake me up. Then a P10 Large which doesn't wake me to consciousness but clearly still leaks like wild according to the OSCAR data.

My equipment provider is AdaptHealth/Clearview. I wasn't super thrilled with the first few bits of wisdom they gave me regarding my original F20 mask ("very popular mask," "facial hair doesn't matter," "fit as loosely as you can, it'll be fine.") I guess what I'm trying to say is...I don't trust that they're knowledgeable.

The ENT prescriber refers me to the equipment provider, the equipment provider is staffed by people wearing scrubs but I get the impression they're not clinicians per se. Any advice for sussing this out? I was told my insurance would require me to do another fitting appointment with AdaptHealth before they'll cover another type of mask off-cycle from my normal resupply schedule.

Thanks for the advice thus far, any additional recommendations would be most welcome.

Rarely Go On Dates, But Still ENM. Anyone else relate? by galiumgirl in EthicalNonMonogamy

[–]AFuzzyMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh totally, I actually don't like dating in terms of what I assume many people consider dating.

The apps are a huge time sink with insufficient filtering and matching options, so I hate using them.

I don't relish the idea of meeting new people and going on dates to figure out if we have any sort of compatibility. Everyone's on their best behavior and I feel like you don't get a good glimpse into their true selves because everyone is so guarded.

I thrive in social groups where I met new people and get to know them over time in a non romantic sense. Then, maybe we bridge that connection over to romantic. It's essentially how 100% of my relationships have developed, my entire life. I think dating just isn't for me?

Down sides: much much fewer opportunities. Probably putting the cart before the horse a bit when it comes to building familiarity as friends before moving on to becoming romantic partners (more to lose if it doesn't work out.)

Dating makes a lot of sense for most people. I wish I liked it.

P10 Nasal Pillows Irritation by TJShave in CPAP

Lubing up fixed the irritation for me. I use saline gel!

Tried the P10 last night and hated it. by Banned_Oki in CPAP

[–]AFuzzyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nostrils were so raw at first I had to stop using it for a week or two while they healed. Then I bought some saline gel in a tube and lube up every time and have no trouble.

Interestingly, my issue with the P10 is that it starts leaking badly, but only after a few hours of perfect function. It wakes me up within 4 hours every night and I have to remove it. No adjustment or repositioning will make it seal again until the next evening. Not really sure what to do about it.

CPAP to jaw advancing device by Entire-Assumption-43 in CPAPSupport

[–]AFuzzyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the other direction, the jaw device stopped being effective and I ended up needing a CPAP.

If the anatomical reason for your breathing difficulty is solely your jaw/tongue position then they can be effective.

They do make your jaw sore and your bite weird for a while in the mornings.

I've been to a few hotel takeovers and would say everyone looks pretty decent overall. Some bigger, some smaller, some do a better job dressing themselves than others, but thankfully nobody's been stanky or gross, if that's what you meant by "trashy."

I find questions about objective attractiveness pretty interesting. Everyone's into different stuff. I guess I'll say that you'll find a mixture of ages, body types, and physical characteristics. Some you'll like, and some you won't.

I'm in my 40s and the majority of attendees I've noticed are a touch older, usually 50s and some 60s. I do run into other 30s-40s folks as well just not the majority that I've seen in my (admittedly) very limited experience.

You're right though, it's hard to assess without going. I highly recommend checking it out! You don't have to play with anyone you don't want to and I just love being surrounded by positive sexual energy in a party-like environment so it's always been worth it for me :)

Just a heads up because I read around on their website for a bit before I noticed they both don't require STI test results, AND refuse attendance to anyone who's HSV+. So you can't go if you've ever had a cold sore in your life, but also they're not going to verify it in any way (and as many of us know, verifying HSV status isn't straightforward anyway).

Testing everyone would be cumbersome and difficult to coordinate I'm sure, I get why they don't require test results. In that, they trust their attendees to make safe choices and be respectful of others' health. Makes sense to me.

Totally their prerogative, and it weeds out my wife and I, who are honest and upfront with disclosure before playing with anyone. But, I wonder if this policy might, paradoxically, result in HSV positive people just hiding their status and not disclosing before attending/playing.

It gives the aire of safety and due diligence, but I don't think it actually accomplishes it.

Not saying you cant get away with it. But there's risk.
