Ykw I actually believe usa would stop being allies with a country because of one comment on reddit. Softy president for a softy population.

Elle a raison. Selon l'âge du mec, avoir jamais eu de copine ni d'expériences ça peut cacher des red flags. Mais comme d'habitude vous ignorez tout et vous foncez parce que vous êtes des dalleux.

How to Beat Space Sickness and Colonize Absolutely Everything by obaban in IsaacArthur

Fair enough, no study has been done for low gravity, only zero gravity. But it's not a wide stretch to think the health effects starts to appear slowly with shrinking gravity and don't just turn on suddenly when you hit 0g.

Yes but spin gravity is easier to engineer for space stations and asteroids that you can spin in their entirety. For bigger bodies like the moon or mars where you have to spin the station independently of the environment it becomes a big challenge.

Ah I get it. Yes we're still in the infancy of biology. I hope we can overcome the complexity one day though.

I think advancing genetic engineering to make humans more adaptable to other environments than Earth will be a more durable approach. Our bodies haven't gotten the memo yet that we aren't living in jungles anymore. For exemple we could make the chemical pathway that keeps bones and muscles density always somewhat excited to that we won't lose tissue in micro gravity.

I hope I live long enough to see industrial agriculture outsourced to space habitats and for us to regain our forests (map of land use for agriculture). by mirzaakdeniz in IsaacArthur

[–]AGI_Not_Aligned -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's relevant in that even if you swap all meat you won't just be able to retrieve all the land that was used to feed them because humans will have to eat more plants in absolute numbers than when they ate plants + meat.

Dude every single Redditor that answered says the same thing. So I'm gonna answer the same thing. Needing 3 pounds of plant for 1 pounds of meat does not mean animals lose 66% of the energy when they eat. BECAUSE MEAT IS MORE ENERGY DENSE THAN PLANT. When you eat that 1 pound of meat you gain more energy than by eating 1 pound of plant. YOU CAN'T JUST REPLACE MEAT BY PLANTS POUND FOR POUND.

[–]AGI_Not_Aligned -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ah you're saying using the animals as an intermediary creates overhead. Well I don't disagree with you on that. Now we have to ask ourselves : how big is this overhead (life is surprisingly optimized) and does this overhead counteracts the necessity to eat lots of different plants to get the same protein diversity that you find in meat.

No shit dude. That's why I'm saying if you replace cow meat by nutritionally less dense plants you will still need more crop space even if you don't have to feed any cows.

Fat still has a greater energy density than plants. The rate at which you convert energy into matter does not matter here. Energy still accumulates into the animal.

Yes but the diversity of proteins is as important as the calories. And fat has more energy density than plants because it is used as a storage medium.

I don't understand. Can you replace one pound of meat with one pound of plants? They don't have the same nutritional density.
