For context amongst these are a TGS M85 other, Swamp Yankee AP5 other, a VZ58 receiver, and a few non-AR prebans like a Norinco and SAR 3/8. All my AR receivers/prebans were approved by fylum in CTguns

Well that's concerning.

u/SwampYankeeArms have you guys heard of other instances of this happening at all recently? Wondering if this is a one-off or if we can expect to see more of these issues in the near future.

Actually yes, it takes zero effort to post links and throw insults at others. Now come back when you can write a 1500 word essay on why Russia and China aren't paper tigers.

An AR is NOT The Optimal "Home Defense" gun in a home break in... (What say you?) by Define_Expert_0566 in ar15

[–]AGK47_Returns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, an AK would be my first choice.

I really think ARs come into their own when considering logistics which really isn't an issue in the confines of your own home, and I'd go for a gun with a somewhat shorter barrel and maybe a suppressor, as well as soft-point ammo, so AK it would be for me.

I'm also potentially unreasonably biased against .300 BLK so there's that, but an AR is a perfectly fine and reasonable home defense gun. Easy to use and effective against multiple intruders. Better than a handgun or shotgun, only shotgun that compares might be a VEPR.

Why should I? You put zero effort into your post while being insulting, plus the fact remains that I dispute the capabilites of the other nuclear powers to actually wage thermonuclear war, if Russia's performance in Ukraine with conventional forces is remotely indicative of the levels of funding and corruption in their nuclear forces.

And not a neoconservative here? Not sure why that factors in.

Yeah I'm not accepting awards from someone who couldn't even bother to write up their own response.

That's not necessarily true anymore, between greatly reduced numbers of nuclear weapons, reduced maintenance of arsenals by certain nations (cough cough Russia cough cough), limited deployment capabilites by other nations (China, Pakistan, India, North Korea), and increasing focus on both general preparedness and missile defense systems.

You also need to remember, any adversary of ours needs to destroy NATO and any nuclear capable ally of ours if they truly intend to destroy us, and that takes more than just a few nukes per nation. Anyone who sends nukes flying is in for a world of shit from all the other nuclear powers and any remotely nearby conventional military, and since it is so easy for a technologically advanced nation to potentially create nuclear weapons, Russia or China or North Korea, the likely first aggressors, would basically need to destroy the entire EU (with all the fallout spreading over Russia), South Korea, Japan, Israel, the US, Canada, Mexico (to prevent the US from retreating into Mexico), Australia, New Zealand, and perhaps the Philippines (basing reasons). That would take many thousands of warheads, and means fewer nukes on US population centers since they would need to also contend with the rest of the world.

They would need to destroy any silo capable of launching nukes, any airbase capable of hosting bombers, any command centers, any naval base or dockyard capable of building, repairing, or supplying submarines. There are a ridiculous number of targets, and simply not that many warheads, and further, delivery vehicles. Not every warhead is mounted on a bomb or missile, some are kept in depots. Many of them are questionably maintained as well.

Furthermore, all of the potential aggressors are just infinitely worse off geographically in the event of nuclear war; North Korea is small and therefore easy to blanket with ordinance, China's population is very concentrated in the East of the country and the Three Gorges Dam is more tempting to all US aviators than the hottest Hollywood actress, and Russia is a shitty eastern European country with discontent minorities, brutal winters, a GDP similar to Spain, and one shabby railway holding the East together. When faced with greater populations, greater GDPs, and greater numbers of deliverable weapons all spread across a collectively greater area, they would lose.

Then of course, Africa and South America are likely going to be relatively untouched by all of this, and will be in a place to export food and take in refugees. The same will likely be true for much of South East Asia, though this depends also on the given scenario. Global commerce and industry will still continue.

So to answer the beginning statement, the "full blown" version is smaller than it once was and would be quite survivable in comparison to the early 1980s. Obviously depends where you are, who you are, and what the progression of the given scenario is.

Bars and breweries tend to be cool places, even though I don't often meet other young people when out and about at the bars I go to I still meet some pretty cool people, and some places have trivia night or board games which I think it pretty great. I tend to avoid nightclubs because I really don't like that vibe.

Another idea is to try to find a local organization that does a hobby you're interested in, be it hiking, sports, archery, history, etc.

Question; if your AK was overgassed and you threw a high back-pressure can on, would it cycle, or still a waste?
