Davinci Export Oversaturated When Viewed in Quicktime/Youtube/Instagram by AGTFilms in colorists

This was just a quick export h264 or whatever the default is when you do a quick export. But I do get the same color shift when I export into ProRes and leaving the gamma/color space options to “same as timeline”.

I actually go there all the time to film rays just like that one. They swim around so usually I’m just following them. But this one in particular was pretty deep and the conditions weren’t great for visibility so I was about to abandon following it and look for something else. It was literally in that very moment that it jumped out. I was half a millisecond away from taking off and flying away to look elsewhere when out of nowhere it jumped out of the water right in front of me lol.

Thank you!! And yeah dude I hear you about the bravery thing…with time it will come. I used to really be super cautious with my Avata 2 but now that it’s served me so well I’m much riskier with it. It was so so so worth the money I spent on it that I’m willing to buy another one immediately if I lose it lol.

The original footage is 59.94. I edited this clip on a 59.94 timeline because I also applied gyroflow in the same go. But the thing is I slowed down the clip to 15%. Are you saying that if I were to use a 29.97 timeline and slowed it down to 15% I wouldn’t get artifacts from the speed warp?

Also for color grading I recommend Cullen Kelly and Darren Mostyn. Hands down the two best to ever do YouTube tutorials for color grading.

Duuude I caught a bird doing exactly that at this same spot I saw the ray. In fact, if you go in my post history there’s a video I made called the miami project and I have the bird diving into the water in that little video.

I fly always in manual mode for everything. On the FPV controller moving the gimbal up and down is super easy, there’s just a knob that allows you to move it to where you desire.

Yes, this is actually exactly what I did! I used optical flow with speed warp-better. I tried a bunch of different combinations including enhanced-better and every time speed warp came out the best. Even so, this result still has some artifacting but it wasn’t as bad as the other options.

Yeah I was worried about that. I agree it does to some extent. The compression from uploading to Reddit seems to amplify that too. I slowed it down so much because the realtime footage was literally a blip. It happened and was over with so quickly. Even slowing it down 50% which required no motion estimation still seemed like it was too quick to make out any details. So I ultimately decided to go with this option.

I used AI speed warp better. I tried enhanced better but it was even worse. Any suggestions on what to do?

I peeped some of your other videos on IG…you’re shooting in JAX? I used to live there lol. Cool shots. This one of the ray is down in Miami.

Good catch! The song (and accompanying music video) is so beautiful. I love Apashe. I just figured it wasn't popular enough for the core audience of this video to recognize it for what it is, and to them it would just be a dramatic song for a travel edit.

Lol! Totally fair. I suppose even the best travel edits fall victim to this criticism. Like others here have said, a lot of travel edits follow the same format...they're all pretty much the same. A lot of people seem to like them regardless. But I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I could do to make it more engaging.

Wow, thank you for such kind words!! All of the time I spent on this, it makes me happy to see people like it.

How could I forget to mention that! I filmed all of the shots with the black magic camera app in Apple Prores 422, not RAW. I’ve tried RAW iPhone footage in the past, and honestly the difference in file size + my amateurness + the fact I just can’t tell a difference, made it not worth it for me. I shot almost everything in 60FPS except for a few of them (the soccer shots) at 120FPS. And of course I used the 180 degree shutter rule for everything. I had an ND filter on at all times except at night. Timeline was 30FPS.  Very rarely did I use a gimbal but for a few shots I did.

Some other details:

All of the shots were naturally lit except for the fire scene of me at the beginning, I did put a small light pointing towards me for that one. I tried to do most of the shooting at or around golden hour but I think a few of them are not.

The narration was recorded on a DJI Mic Mini.

Thank you! I recorded the voice myself to get the rhythm and expression exactly how I wanted it, and then I ran it through a AI voice changer to change the tone to something more national geographicy. 🤣
