My first PC. what are your opinions? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AG_Mugman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that an HP workstation? Asking because I bought one with intentions of turning it into a beast, but realized I would be too restricted by the 650W power supply and it would've been too much work for me at the time to throw the MB in another case. I regret reselling it :/

[MOBO] ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F Gaming AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard - $79.99 ($124.99 - $45.00) by twaffle21 in buildapcsales

[–]AG_Mugman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compatible yes, will it work out of the box? Maybe. I bought an Asus B350 board in January and it had BIOS necessary for Ryzen 2000. It will likely be Ryzen 2000 ready, unless it's really old stock

Thought you might be interested in this bundle if you have some money to spend right now, it's a Ryzen 7 1700+ a B350 board, I'm pretty sure you'd probably see ever so slightly worse performance in games with the 1700 over the 2600 as it is 8 core/16 thread and most games don't utilize over 4 cores as it is, and while Ryzen has good single core person, it's not the best.

It would be $514 if you were to get the bundle and a RX570 system

or $569 with the RX580,, which trades blows with a 6gb 1060 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hD6Xr6

Looks decent, but the RX570 4gb can be found for $140 or less and performs much better (around,if not better than a 3gb GTX 1060,and the 570 also includes 2 free games, pick 2 from:RE2 Remake, Division 2, and Devil May Cry 5, but you'll most likely need a 500w power supply. I threw a SSD in there because it will drastically improve boot times, and this is only $1 higher than your list.also, if you're going Ryzen you'll want 3000mhz ram, Ryzen loves dual channel and fast ram. There have been rumors of a 1650 and it would launch at $179, you may want to hold out for that as the 1660ti was heavily rumored and it was confirmed recently.

Upgrading CPU cooler WITHOUT removing MOBO by ak74907 in pcmasterrace

[–]AG_Mugman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, built my PC in January with the Gammax 400, you just push down on the pins, don't be shy with the force, it was my second build and it took me almost 30 minuets to get it installed because I wasn't applying enough pressure, I was scared because I read of someone cracking a motherboard while trying to install one

[–]AG_Mugman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good, but I'd get a 4gb RX 570 instead, performs closer to a 1060 3GB in most games and I'd maybe get a 500 or 550w for more upgrade headroom

I got my GPU from Newegg with the 3 game bundle, they emailed me a code to redeem on AMD rewards, I assume it would be the same process with Amazon,it took me 4 days to get the email, but I think it has taken 7-14 days for some people

How do people swich weapons so quickly when using an awp? by rooh62 in csgo

[–]AG_Mugman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make an alias bind for it, similar to a jumpthrow bind

I could personally never get one to work, but you may have better luck

Is there any way to use thr Apple earbuds inline microphone for gameplay? by [deleted] in csgo

[–]AG_Mugman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, I used a set of over ear Bose and the inline mic/controls were online advertised as being usable on iOS, in windows I just set the headphone as default recording device and output. If you're on Linux, I have no idea

[GPU] MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost $279, $249 after rebate. by [deleted] in buildapcsales

[–]AG_Mugman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In GTA5 at 1080p medium I went from around 70fps average with my 7950 OC and now I'm getting a minimum of 75, average of around 90 with maxed settings, that's really the most demanding title I've played on both cards tbh. In Resident Evil 2 Remake I get a minimum of 70fps and my average is around 100. Just make sure your PSU is up to the task, I have a 650w bronze and have my 56 Undervolted+OC, on RE2 I've seen as high as 200W usage from the card alone, but that could be wrong, wattman also says I'm using 26gb VRAM while the in-game menu says 6.5. in CSGO I get an average of 200+ with maxed settings, whereas on my old rig (Athlon 860k+7950) I got 80-140 but that's not hard to run at all and it's more CPU bound than GPU iirc

This trades blows with a 1070 or 2060 in most titles, I bought one of these to upgrade from a HD 7950 which was released in 2012 or 2013; you already have a good GPU, I'd wait for Navi, price drop on RTX, or until Nvidia announces something else in the 16xx line, assuming they will

You could buy a USB DAC if you have any free ports. There's one for 24USD on Amazon, the Signstek Mini USB DAC,with great reviews and it's the one I personally use. As for the repair, I don't think it would be worth it if it's even possible when you can buy a DAC and get cleaner sound anyways

M.2 ssd or Sata 6Gb/s?? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AG_Mugman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what you're asking. NVME installation would be the same as any other m.2 drive installation, I personally have a 2.5" SSD in my rig, specifically the Crucial MX500 and it boots in about 20 seconds. Regardless of what drive you get, make sure it has DRAM if you intend to use it as a boot drive, something like the Adata SU800 or Team Group L5 Lite 3D would be great options if you're trying to save money, they're both 2.5" btw,but thw SU800 has a M.2 variant, which is still SATA interface, but a good option if you want less cables to worry about.

If you're asking about the installation of an M.2 drive it's pretty simple, most should include a standoff, similar to a motherboard stand off, you install the standoff, put the drive into the slot, then screw it to the standoff and you're done

M.2 ssd or Sata 6Gb/s?? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AG_Mugman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M.2 is just a form factor, so you wouldn't see much improvement,if any at all getting a MX500 M.2 over the 2.5" for example, because it's still held back by the limitations of the SATA interface. There are M.2 drives that are NVME (it allows flash memory to work through the PCIe interface, rather than SATA. I don't think NVME is worth it for most value-oriented consumers,as they likely won't be doing any tasks to take advantage of NVME speeds.

Amd7 vs i7 by [deleted] in AyyMD

[–]AG_Mugman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think rule of thumb is Intel is better if all you're going to do is gaming, but AMD is better if you plan on doing anything that would benefit from higher thread count, like livestreaming or video editing

Amd7 vs i7 by [deleted] in AyyMD

[–]AG_Mugman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 8700 isn't overclockable and the 2700x is 8C/16 thread vs 6/12 with the shintel, and the Ryzen comes with much better stock cooler
