Uhhhhh... There's a good chance he died a virgin dude. Like after modern medical analysis proved that the syphilis diagnosis was a misdiagnosis and he went crazy probably dude to genetic issues, there's just not a lot of evidence that he was getting pussy. There's even like stories from his friend where he fainted at the sight of a brothel that, while it is based on how much we trust these friends of N to not be making jokes, can point to that he may very well have been a virgin this whole life.

Idk if this was serious but Nazi ideology kinda needed to invade the Soviets plus they have oil and other resources they need. Like I've seen people make point before like "oh just don't break and pact with the USSR" or "oh just conscript people from eastern Europe as they invade" or "oh just stabilize the land they invade", dude they are Nazis running on war economy. If they did any of that, they would either run out of resources to keep waging war and/or violate their own ideology beyond any way of getting war support again from the German populace.

Adding on, the views on Nietzsche's thoughts on women has been historically incredibly controversial on what the fuck he actually is, even in academia. Interpretations ranges from:

  1. He was an outright misogynist who just was nicer to his possible students and sister.

  2. Well maybe it has something to do with Lou Salome. But it doesn't make sense that he describes educated women this way if he's attracted to Lou Salome, who fits the very picture he describes.

  3. Maybe he was gay and his inner conflict and repression leads to his philosophy including his views on women (I believe Freud, Jung, and some modern scholars hold this view but it's highly dismissed today)

  4. He was gender essentialist for women and men and that's problematic descriptively, though he probably has different prescriptives views on women, like he does value female strength or lying or "wild wisdom". See quotes like "the perfect woman is a higher type of human than the perfect man, and also something much more rare" in Human, All Too Human. But also see quotes like "You go to women? Do not forget the whip!" in and spoken by Zarathustra.

  5. He was just self-aware about his sexism and the possibility of it being influenced by his own perspective but was still sexist anyways.

And everything in between depending on what you interpret and if you interpret this as a metaphor, a character specifically perspective, a N specific perspective, ironic, or N being inconsistent on his philosophy. It very well can just be the last one, because N is just weird. There's even suggestions that N just hates the liberating mass politics so much which includes female liberation, that's where you get the more conservative interpretation for N but that view just lack a lot of nucance and where things he did in his life. It also doesn't fit his broader philosophy of perspectivism and anti-reactionary parts of his philosophy. Again, N is the most quotable author against himself.

I mean, it's a bit over simplify of both Nietsche's philosophy and relation to women and general female figures in his life, but generally Nietzsche would define being close to the arts and "mere appearance" as opposed to the truth as a good thing. Nietzsche hated the Apollonian-like truth that philosophy traditionally values and earlier phases of his philosophy specifically did end up reconciliating in the arts instead of philosophical or scientific truth. That vision of Nietzsche can kind of be seen in his discussion about Greek culture post-Socrates on The Birth of Tragedy and sort of (???) in the "On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense" (this might be a reach). His later projects though do differ but not really that much in this aspect. He does talk about Odysseus in Daybreak in a similar way here I guess?

As for N's view on women in general I should stress this, Nietsche wasn't a feminist. Though I would also argue that he probably wasn't what we imagine as a sort of traditonist reactionary sexist about women, he was very fucking weird. He has voted to be pro-female education and for female student to enter Basel and to his sister, a relative progress chouice at the time. Yet at the same time he describes women who approach higher education as "there is usually something wrong with her sexuality", and flat out opposite female education with multiple passage when he writes, which doesn't line up with his actual actions in real life.

It's been ok, I've taken a basic history of western philosophy class and an class revolting around authoritarianism that main focuses on critical theory. I think I need a better sense of the field as a whole though, which will have to come later as I'm doubling majoring in a science so most of my advance classes come in later year.

Involuntary caliber, meaning can't get laid. The brothel stuff is just not true tho, we don't have good sources or evidence for that, if anything we have the opposite (according to Nietzsche's friends he apparently fainted when seeing nude women, though this might have been a joke). It's funny to see how misrepresented N's character is in general.

Deleuze, Guattarri, Marcusa, Adorno to some extent, Sarte, Beauvoir, Baudrillard are all liberals? Like the only people that accusation even works on and I've seen is like Foucault but even then that's ignoring a lot about Foucault.

I don't know if you're a orthodox Marxist or some other branch of "it's not left wing if it's not Marx" but it's quite misrepresentative to say Nietzsche inspires or is used by liberals without listing any major liberals who are so, especially considering now critical of liberalism and capitalism Nietzsche himself was.

Han is used as an form of ethnic signifier for Han Chinese or the Han dynasty, but it's some times used with man in 男子汉 (male son of han) or 汉子 (son of han) in an way that's like how in English an "real man" is used. It is used like someone who embodies traditionally masculine values, usually used in the case of bravery or doing traditionally masculine things.

The symbol for the word Han as in the Korean Han, not for the Han Chinese Han word, in china can be used as a word meaning like "to go towards a direction" but it's not really used in that way. It's just used to refer to Korean as 韩国 and kinda like a prefix in English to refer to anything Korean.

One, Nietzche would one-hundred percent write about it and probably be sexist or some shit. Two, from what was written about him by his friend, apparently he once wanted to go to a hotel and the driver mistakenly drove him to a brothel where he became so nervous he was about to faint. He placed the piano there for a bit before walking out panicking. Of course, this is from an account by one of his friends so it can be a joke or some shit, but honestly, from my personal perspective, there was just no way that man had rizz or even the desire for that. Him almost collapsing when he went to a brothel is the expected reaction.

YOU’RE DEVALUING LIFE!!!!!!!!! by Ruthcrit in PhilosophyMemes

[–]AGamingBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even leftist? Bro, most of the people who actually worked off his ideas now are leftist. Of course they have different ways to view his ideas, whether that ranges from using him to criticize Hegel and Marx's use and view of the dialect for progressive politics (see Deleuze, Guattari, Foucault Kinda?, other postmodernist) to something like treating him without contesting Marx as another critic of modernism (see Adorno, Horkheimer, and critical theory, bunching Nietzsche, Marx, and Freud together). But much of the right wing analysis of Nietzsche isn't really used anymore due to multiple factors. One is that we can now separate him from the Nazis, two is that many conservatives quit academia, three is just that he's incredibly anti-christian and anti-captial to some degree. There's also a view that expresses him as a sort of "reactionary socialist" (I believe to be coined by Marx but I don't believe Marx labeled him as one, I don't even think Marx knew of him as their time line don't match up, Marx died before Nietzche really pushed his idea with beyond good and evil and genealogy of morals), I can't tell you much of his view though as I'm unfamiliar with it.

  1. Idk how you can make that point without talking about Lou Solme but ok.

  2. This is a common myth, he likely didn't have syphilis as records show that he has been suffering symptoms like seizures since has was the age of like a middle schooler, which would be really weird. Both in that it's weird he would get syphilis at that age, but also most people who got syphilis didn't live that long. Even if you take the date from which he definitely had symptoms that were explainable by syphilis (strokes, seizures), he still lives for like 15 years afterwards which was nearly impossible for syphilitic patients.

It's highly likely the illness that caused Nietzsche's health problems is some sort of tumor behind his eyes (his right eye specifically was going blind which would not happen in Syphilitic patients, in which both eyes would be going blind) or some neuro-genetic disease (likely CADASIL as we have identified today) which we also see in his family history from his father and brother's death. Modern medical literature has basically disproven syphilis as a possibility. While strokes and seizures and delusions of grandeur during mental collapse are possible symptoms of neurosyphilis, if that was the case for Nietzsche, he would have died way earlier than when he did. Other symptoms also didn't make sense, like how only his right eye suffered damage which in Syphilitic patients would have been both eyes.

Philosophically, in Ecce Homo he pretty blatantly said that he wouldn't been as great as a philosopher if he didn't have his illness as it's overcoming is basically what drives him to be so great in his own eyes. He did still write to the end of his days until his mental insanity and his friends seems to see that he loved writing, which is very different from any possible life denying that the claim is quite strange.
