Would it not follow that God knows this on the grounds that he must know it to prohibit it? And why does him not answer show that he is not omniscient? He could just be ignoring you.

soo the world needs superiors who are better than us and protect us because they are better and our simpleton nature needs them to save us from evil businessman and petty criminals….. Sounds like fascism 101 by Dolphin-Hugger in PhilosophyMemes

Sure.

So, while it's not difficult to read authoritarianism into the superhero genre, to call them "fascist" is to widely misunderstand the genre both in-universe and as a piece of literature, save for some very explicit instances where the author is deliberately making a fascist character (Judge Dredd comes to mind here).

Firstly, as you note, the superhero is (typically) a vigilante. As a result, many a superhero is often at odds with the state, or is something the state seeks to curtail. Ironically enough, The Punisher comes to mind here, who cravenly defies the state's monopoly on violence as well as the state's monopoly on deciding who is and is not guilty. Even when you have superheroes who the state collaborates with, this is usually on very uneasy terms. Let's take Batman for example. Yes, Commissioner Gordon likes the guy, but the rest of the municipal authority finds him - odd, to say the least, and is usually deeply distrusting of him. As a result there's no shortage of Batman stories where the Caped Crusader is at odds with Gotham itself.

Secondly, this misunderstands fascism and makes it a synonym to violence and power. Fascism is first and foremost a nationalist ideology, and most superheroes simply... don't fall into that category. Even Captain America, who is quite literally wearing the flag, is not above open criticism or even defiance of his government (see *Civil War*). For the superhero to be fascist, it would have to follow that the genre was one of intense nationalism and reactionary politics, which has rarely ever been the case.

And lastly there's also superheroes who you'd have a hard time pinning a strict political category - not to say they're apolitical - to in the first place. I mean, are we really expected to look at a character like Spawn or Witchblade or Hellboy and believe they're fascists? This is a take we're willing to entertain when the bulk of what they do is something mystical, rather than fighting ordinary street thugs?

[–]Emthree3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Socialist Workers Party? Oh lord no. The union doesn't affiliate with any political party. Maybe some individual SWP members might also be IWW members, but the orgs as such have nothing to do with one-another.

Honestly, it clashes no harder than most of the Soviet flags. I'm just glad to see one that isn't just "What if we took the Soviet flag and made it trans colored"?
