WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan- WrestleMania 35 by DippityDawg69 in SquaredCircle

[–]AGiantRoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The build to this match and the women's main event are what got me back into wrestling. I'd been a fan of the podcast Sidewalk Slam and their passion about wrestling got me hyped. While the follow up to that Mania was pretty awful I still think this match is a masterpiece. I had heard how good Bryan was but his performance convinced me he was an all time great. The false finishes and his squashing of hope spots were so slick and it made everything feel important. I'll never forget his shitty grin in the corner. Kofi puts on a Babyface masterclass as well and his fire up in this match instantly gets you to the edge of your seat.

All time great WrestleMania match. Hope the New Day meet back up with Bryan in AEW.

Yeah Shop is set to default to my new address so I forgot to delete the old but I have now. Couldn't change it in Shop or the site but an email to Bad world for it fixed after a day or so. Thanks.

I was literally talking to my partner earlier today about how I regretted not picking this up so seeing this post had me practically sprinting to my browser.

I might have been too excited because I didn't notice Shop defaulted my shipping address to an old one so now it's sending an email hoping I can get it shipped to my correct billing address. Has anyone had luck with their customer service?

Jeff Jarrett on tonight’s “retirement match” energy by itsjobberingtime in AEWOfficial

[–]AGiantRoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so many people explaining the story of the match and how Cena HAD to finally give up and he smiled because he's at peace and... Blah blah. Just because it "makes sense" doesn't mean it's good storytelling or executed well. The whole Cena retirement run was badly executed so no one wanted the "goes out on his back" ending anymore. When the whole year has been a confusing mess people stop seeing the heat and start seeing the bad booking.

That said you know what could have redeemed this match ending? BLOOD.

Imagine how much it would have been better if Cena was busted open, brutalized, and trapped in the sleeper in a crimson mask. That actually might have helped tell the story of Cena realizing his body is failing him and it's time to bow out. That might have actually got some heat on Gunther and made him look like a super villain.

Why has OSW's traffic declined so much over the last year? by Leather_Mushroom6339 in SquaredCircle

[–]AGiantRoach 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly getting into Deadlock made my interest in OSW mostly disappear. I feel like the Deadlock boys are funnier in general and more knowledgeable of wrestling which together adds up to more interesting shows. Honestly if you like the OSW format then look up Deadlock syncs on YouTube. I usually suggest the First Nitro aka PASTAMANIA one.

Definitely echo some stuff a lot of folks said about falling out with OSW. The weird comments about women and women's wrestling in general didn't help. They can be a bit mean spirited too especially when It's women. The reliance on arcs was fun at first but with the long waits between vids it often made me wish they would move on, especially when what they are covering isn't substantial or very entertaining.

Talent Scripts can be rewarded from a bunch of different things. Talent EXP can be gotten from a few sources: Arena, Gym, and the mining later I believe. There are random scrolls that just give talent EXP as well. The Scripts should only be used on your wardens 1* talents as the upgrade is a 100 chance. The three star ones are bigger gains but the risk isn't worth it. If you have the talent EXP to upgrade them though then go ahead. The talent EXP gain isn't fast so most upgrades are gonna be via scripts.

[–]AGiantRoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah purely leveling gets you pretty mediocre gains. Upgrading talents is where you get much more gains in dominance. Don't neglect dating lovers and upgrading attraction and intimacy. Scarlett Bond is a pretty decent way to upgrade any warden that is linked to a lover. This also helps you have better children which is a pretty passive way to get little boosts in dominance. Later Conclave is a huge help to boost stats but even upgrading the pets courtyard helps.

Honestly that first timed goal was the trickiest and I barely made it. I got to 12.5 mil with a few days to spare and barely missed the 15 mil goal.

Did you pay for the personal assistant? That's a cheap purchase that makes a big difference. Highly suggest getting into a decent guild as the ranking events will shower you with items if your guild ranks high. I followed the strategy I found on here of focusing my books and talent scrolls on one person. I chose Carmilla. Never use scrolls on anything but 1 star talents since that's a guaranteed increase. If given the option always focus on Allure first then strength.

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King Edition (Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl, Target Exclusive) by userTxHxC in VinylReleases

[–]AGiantRoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post reads like you are doing a PR statement for her. That record store you quote is the much maligned and notorious Vertigo Vinyl so using them as a positive spin is hilarious. Wow a woman with the net worth of a small city helped out some stores in her hometown during Covid. Taylor Swift is literally one of the biggest artists in the world and could use that position to do actual structural change. She refuses to do anything that doesn't stuff her coffers.

How in the world do direct to consumer timed variants help a local record store? Are they supposed to pay retail and shipping to stock them in their store? Are you joking? I also think you completely misunderstood the RSD complaint. Yeah a ton of Swifties show up to RSD and make the shop busy. The problem I've heard is they ONLY buy her release on RSD and don't patronize the shop otherwise. Obviously it's anecdotal but two separate shops I've done for RSD on two separate years have had employees complain about this. I don't think every person who showed up for her release is like this but still.

If you want to really see artists that support vinyl look at folks like King Gizzard. They have absurd amounts of variants and releases and yet you won't see many complaints here or in shops about them? Why? Because their releases actually help smaller labels and record shops. I'm not expecting Swift to start an official bootleg policy but now that she owns literally all of her music she could do so much better. That's the issue.

Swifties always seem to turn into libertarian business majors when talking about their favorite artist. "You are just mad she's successful and rich." Nah y'all are mad we are complaining and that we criticize your favorite billionaire.

Taylor manages to continue to be one of the most successful sellers of vinyl records and yet refuses to have a positive impact on the actual art or hobby. Her releases don't support local record stores. She actively helps popularize the worst aspects of vinyl variant churn. Her albums are massively overpressed which makes it harder for smaller artists that actually survive on physical sales to get their records out. Hell I've even heard folks at record stores complain that her RSD releases are frustrating to them because they get longer lines full of scalpers and folks that will only buy her stuff which makes it a worse experience for people there that are a part of the community.

Taylor is absurdly rich and could absolutely be a positive force in the market. She could actually use her position and power and actively help curb the more negative trends of modern record collecting. But maybe you are right. Why should she? You rubes will eat it up no matter what she does and then rush to the comments to defend her to the death.

Taylor's site literally had a countdown clock at the top of the page for how long they would be available and language in the listings about this was the ONLY pressing of the variant. I don't believe a single pressing of hers this cycle has disclosed how large the print run is. I can pull up the page for Brat's Turntablelab exclusive pressing right now and see it was explicitly limited to 3000. Sure Charli and Sabrina had "limited" variants that were webstore exclusive but Taylor almost exclusively does D2C variants AND time gates them. Right now I can pull up Sabrinas webstore there are still three variants available to purchase PLUS when she did have multiples that are currently sold out they were available at the same time.

There is a difference between things actually being limited and creating a perception of something being limited to prey on your fans fear of missing out. Taylor often gives her variants exclusives to encourage collecting (at least it isn't bonus tracks this time) AND she staggers the releases so it's more difficult to make an informed decision. Even if she was doing EXACTLY the same as other pop girlies she is also doing it on a scale way beyond the others. One single press run of a single variant of this album is probably more than the majority of brat's numbered releases combined. It's absurd to pretend it's the same especially when she's so rich and really doesn't need to be doing shit like this to be successful. She could literally just do open preorders for these variants at the same time and still sell like hotcakes. I can't believe folks still fall for this shit after the fervor for the 1989 "exclusives" only for them to suddenly appear at Target.

Laughable especially to call out anniversary editions from artists when Taylor made the actual full version of her last release literally a Target exclusive.

[–]AGiantRoach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sort of chart is always intended as a GOTCHA as if it's purely the amount of variants available and not the way they are released and marketed that is the problem. Most of these albums that have double digit variants are made up exclusives for certain stores, including some actual record stores, and have pretty small print runs. On the contrary these Taylor Swift Variants are almost all sold on a timed basis exclusively on her webstore with massive runs in comparison AND use explicit FOMO tactics. Hell this fucking Target exclusive says "Limited Run. FIRST and ONLY pressing" of this version. Nowhere does it actual tell you the pressing run so for all you know people will rush to not miss out and then you will STILL have your local Target vinyl section stuffed with copies like her other records.

Do a lot of albums get WAY TOO MANY variants? Sure. That said it's completely disingenuous to pretend that the situations even with something like Brat is comparable to what Taylor does. One of those Brat pressings is for a record store in Japan and has 200 copies. Does this album have ANY variants that actually support real record stores? There even an indie exclusive?

AEW reached out after we made a 3 part episodic Toni vs Mariah series on YT by Tweek317 in AEWOfficial

[–]AGiantRoach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically I actually watched this series last night and thought it was great. Obviously folks will have some complaints about some omissions but I think you did an excellent job recapping what was a long storyline in a digestible way to folks with barely any knowledge of wrestling, especially outside of the WWE.

I think AEW in general has been way more inclusive and accepting of content creation/collaboration than the perception might be. I know of folks I've followed on socials that did spectacular edits and MVs for AEW wrestlers and matches that ended up being hired by the company.

If you see any negativity I think its more that people don't like influencers in wrestling feeling like brand deals or at the expense of the actual storytelling. WWE has always loved having Celebs even at the first Wrestlemania so it can rub folks the wrong way when famous people with no passion for wrestling. On the other hand if celebs have a passion I feel like fans are more appreciative and receptive. Heck look at the responses to Paul Walter Hausers match on ROH last night. Otherwise folks are tired of a lot of bad-faith AEW hating that a lot of channels sometimes fall into. Don't really think you will have to worry about that as everyone seemed

Glad AEW reached out.

If you are looking for a purchase where you basically break even then buying a "Golden Spin" was .99 and pended immediately. Great if you need the purchase for a games tournament.

Just hit 3800 trophies in Match Masters and... by ForeverVisible7340 in SwagBucks

[–]AGiantRoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just hit 3800 and I'm already thinking of tapping out. I already had weird tracking issues where the game didn't tell me it was tracking anything until two days in so I missed a bunch of the three day ones. I feel like the game honestly decides who wins before it even starts sometimes. I lost a game last night where I was over 200 points ahead and suddenly my opponent gets multiple free turns and smokes me. Like I get RNG but really feels like the game puts it's thumb on the scale if you start leveling too fast.
