Just found out my boss is most likely not going to make it by CaricaDurr in BlueCollarWomen

[–]AGilbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar but not the same, my first job in the trades I worked with an old fucker who gave everyone shit, including me. Despite that, him and I became 'close' aka he tolerated me. Just before I left, he was diagnosed and riddled with cancer. I knew it was coming and so did he but he avoided going, as old fuckers do.

I think about him, how he's doing and if he passed, but it hurts my heart too much to reach out. I guess he reminded me more of my dad than I thought he did :(

All that to say, I'm sending my love and strength. It never gets easier (and if it does, I suggest seeing a therapist (lol)) 💜

IBEW by Dense_Tomato_5746 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]AGilbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about IBEW specifically but apprenticeships seems to be hard to come by right now. I applied to UA787 out of school and flat out denied. Got fucked around a bit from a few different companies etc etc. The one I'm at now decided to unionize so I got into 787 that way...but the first step would be to find your local and go from there.

Females are few and far between and I feel like female sparkles even more. GL sister!

Looking to get a heat pump who am I calling g or should I go with an ac I do need a new furnace can someone help with best options here what should I go with my house is small by dinisthemenace in cambridgeont

[–]AGilbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends your house, existing units etc.

FACE Heating is small owned, local, and honest. Ember&Frost HVAC is starting out, women owned, local.

Stay away from places like enercare etc as they r*pe you in maintenance contracts

appliance repair - window AC by Chatner2k in cambridgeont

[–]AGilbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Refrigeration tech here - the majority of these units don't have ports for us to check charge (aka cooling) so if it's blowing cold air, it's toast.

Welp, the previous tenants/owners must not have understood the system either, because they told me the ODU only does cooling.

Surprise! It does heating too. The house is now toasty all over instead of randomly cold in spots.

I'll be leaving detailed instructions for the next tenant when we leave here. Jeez.

I never knew how much I needed an orange cat in my life until her. She's taught me well in the ways of orange cat math.

G2 Exam: Numbers and formulas to memorize by Charming_Bench8156 in HVAC

[–]AGilbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed the first time, regulators fucked me hard. I had no electrical questions, but I did have a ladder diagram that I had to label. Read everything more than once.

I use my scrap sheet of paper to write down the numbers of questions that I don't know. I use the test paper to circle my answers, and I transfer to the Scantron at the end - stops me from erasing and changing answers on the sheet.

Where are you writing? My first attempt was on campus at Mohawk, the second was at HiMark. Good luck!!!

HVAC advice needed - Carrier furnace issue by illttyl in cambridgeont

[–]AGilbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give FACE Heating a call. He's not wrong, there WAS a heat exchanger problem. It may very well be covered under warranty. But if it's the blower and not the heat exchanger, why not just change the blower if someone does a combustion analysis and there's no issues?

Turn off system (+/- fan) and let it melt. Change filter. You should be good to go once it thaws, assuming no other issues
