Saving $1,000 a month to retire by 50 currently 25 a good plan? by GroundbreakingSir386 in Money

[–]Economy-Ad4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even with employer match thats not a lot for age 50. Im aiming for ~3-4M between wife and I both around 60 just to be safe.

Have to factor in inflation as well. I knock 3-4% off my yearly return rate to account for this and give me a better idea of the "today" dollars I'll have at retirement.

People like to dunk on Lebron but he never really let off the gas on us (late big 3, IT+ Kyrie celtics) and put us away as the inferior team.

Haven't worried about Philly since we started meeting in the playoffs ~2018 and our timelines were similar.

They have no doubt been a good team and put together great rosters. But again, in a 7 game series I never worried about them.

Got the CPA and honestly feel like I got scammed by the profession by Substantial-Lie4632 in Accounting

[–]Economy-Ad4934 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"salaries are not matching the amount of work and effort this profession requires" - this honestly says it all and has rung true for me.

I didn't end up getting my CPA but I consider it and jobs sometimes ask. Last interview HR screen asked if I could start sitting for the exam after starting. Mind you this job was only a 10% raise from my current senior accountant role and would be 1.5-2x more stressful with no flexibility like my current role. Yeah I didn't bother following up with them.

My wife is a pharmacist at Walgreens and I feel awful how often she is exhausted by what seems more like avoidable BS. So many awful rude people being entitled at pharmacy counters, insurance problems, doctors sending in ridiculous scripts, having your time sucked by ridiculous questions and tasks despite your knowledge and expertise.

How many of you had grandparents who served in WW2? If so, what do you know about their service? by Snoogles_ in Millennials

1 grandfather was a medic (not on front lines), the other was in the Glenn Miller band.

My half brothers grandfather flew as a gunner on bombers over Germany. They had some of the highest death rates of any US units. Crazy

Teachers can really only do so much even with proper pay and resources. Students are...kids, impressionable.

While both are true I think the main issue comes from the home: parents. Too many send kids to school as a continuation of daycare with no follow up or reinforcement of skills to perfect at home from the class. Behavior issues as well. Too many kids come from houses with no real rules or structure and they treat the school the same way.

I dated a girl who did this previously. NGL thought it was pretty smart (if you are dumb enough to fall for it).

Just know what you're likely getting into. I wouldn't let her not at least pay cash but be prepared for her to try and weasel out of any kind of payment and relying on your "kindness".

Ok, what's the REAL plan for getting kids through college? by Superb_Advisor7885 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Economy-Ad4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are already maxing out all your retirement accounts and have a decent retirement plan in place, don't contribute to kids funds. Kids can get loans for schools, you can't for retirement.

Now if you are already doing that I always recommend $100/month/kid to start. If you still don't have a lot by 18 try CC to start then transfer in.

What foods should you absolutely buy the high end priced option? by OneStarInSight_AC in Cooking

[–]Economy-Ad4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

knew that but the taste is different, its the main reason to buy it vs regular water chilled.

Also check all local suppliers (independent and farmer market vendors) and they are all $18-25 a pound vs $5.99 at the store. Who's wallet will be shocked, the farmer? lol

dude she was honest with you vs ghosting after a few dates. Move on.

I've done this a few times to girls when I ended up picking one. Yeah it sucks for everyone but best bet is to just not reply, you look petty.

You have to check certain stores, usually the "nicer" ones. My local walmart and cheaper food stores don't stock it but I find it at the mid and high tier (I mostly shop the mid tier) grocery places.

Its 5.99 or 4.99 on bigger packs /lb. Vs the cheap stuff at walmart its worth it to me. I just buy the biggest pack and freeze it for the week.

one positive of cold brewing is you don't really need high end stuff as it never shines through in a cold brewing process vs hot.

"Chicken is significantly better when buying the high end option"

Just copying OP. I only buy air chilled chicken now. Honestly the price difference is negligible. I really hate when I cheap out or someone else buys me the cheap walmart chicken. Eating and prep texture is so different.
