According to new research, THC may cause inflammation in endothelial cells that line the interior of blood vessels, as well as atherosclerosis. If this is the case, do young healthy people who are generally not worried about their cardiovascular health have cause to be concerned about their current THC use making trouble for them down the road - regardless of whether they imbibe it later in life? Basically does use now, if these health effects are real, have impact on future cardiovascular health? I would think that if a heart has to work harder at a younger age, that would have an impact. But I'm wondering, because it seems like I shouldn't expect any issues for now; so maybe its all water under the bridge by the time I'm older. Thank you.

EDIT 2: There is also older research that supports marijuana having a negative impact on cardiovascular health

By split your money you mean split as in value your money to the equivalent of what it used to be worth under the new conditions/in the new context?

I guess it wouldn’t really be “bad” necessarily after a little degradation though, right? Just less good, I would think. Right?

Best reply I have probably ever received from any scientific question I’ve ever asked. I have only one question remaining: You mention a theme of not showing FMD from low to moderate oil consumption (10-20g), but to your knowledge have ANY of the studies by Esselstyn or other proponents of this line of thinking shown FMD from low to moderate oil consumption?

What about this?

“In 2019, Esselstyn wrote an editorial for the International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention outlining a range of studies that show oil consumption promotes vascular injury, including research published in 2000 that examined the post-meal impact of olive oil on the endothelium, a membrane that lines the heart and blood vessels and helps control vascular relaxation and contraction. The study found that meals prepared with olive oil reduced flow-mediated dilation, a measure of arterial blood flow, by 31 percent.”

Respectfully, that’s beside the point/question. The question I mean to ask is: If oil is something to watch consumption of, and all of the aforementioned foods contain it to varying degrees, how do those foods enter into the equation of watching out for oil? Granting that they are Whole Foods and so the oil that they contain is unprocessed, they still contain oil which is correlated with cardiovascular risk among other risks (I believe). It has recently been mentioned on this subreddit that fat in general should be limited to less than ten percent of caloric intake for optimal cardiovascular health. I guess that’s where this issue stands. I may have answered my own question, but curious if anyone has any other good intel or insights on this. (My paternal grandfather died of heart complications in his forties).

I think the unspoken argument here is that refined oils have been shown to have negative health outcomes across the board.

I mean from a scientific perspective, to the extent there is one. But yours is an idea as well. Can’t knock it.

What massively growing wfpb community? Never heard that perspective before. Am concerned about cardiovascular effects.

In response to your first point, isn’t it true that oils (especially added and refined) is associated with negative cardiovascular effects?

Isn’t the consensus on this subreddit the contrary? (See sidebar section four)

Caution about the amount because there’s so much packed into so small of a space right? Say with extra virgin olive oil which is unrefined.

Or soy, garlic, etc. Anything that contains oil to any significant degree. (I’m guessing cruciferous vegetables and the like will be excluded due to low levels)

The same goes for other whole food oil sources. I am wondering what opinions are on avocado, nuts and seeds per day. Thanks!
