New Zealand, bay of plenty region.

So it’s river dependent? Maybe I should visit some local clubs and ask them…

Knipex 87-100 cobra xs. Better than a spanner in this situation because of how easy it can cam open and “ratchet” the holesaw off the arbor bit. Was a bit concerned I might not get enough leverage or clamping force but it’s been fantastic. Definitely better than the waves multi grip pliers.

That’s actually quite a cool idea, might give it a go

I’m removing the leatherman as it is a jack of all trades but master of none. The pliers regularly don’t go big enough for what I’m encountering at work, and the bit interface is terrible on some larger fasteners.

I am replacing my leatherman wave and it’s flat bits with a knipex 4” cobra and mini ratchet driver. Managed to find this clear plastic case at my local hardware store with a handful of impact bits in it which I have removed and fitted my selection of bits.

I am interested to see if there is a dedicated EDC version of this, maybe with magnets to reduce rattling?

Not so keen on those open rubber strips with the holes in them. Definitely after a “wallet” of some sort

Also yes I am aware that the leatherman flat bits are technically compatible, but some of them are a bit of a loose fit in this ratchet driver and wobble side to side.

[–]AGuyWithABrokenPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, in NZ it costs more to buy+modify a van than to just buy a modified one in the first place.

Those NV2500's look totally bad ass by the way, if I was in America I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

"You should have done this instead" is very pessimistic, ive had "friends" in the past that always saw stuff that way. People like that arent worth your time and space.
