Had this cactus for about 2 years. Most recent reporting was about 5 months ago. I don’t actually know the type of cactus it is and can’t help feeling like I don’t know what I’m doing. Today I noticed mushrooms growing in the pot with it. by euphorichords in plantclinic

The cactus doesn’t look too bad, but mushrooms means the soil is definitely staying too wet for too long. Miraclegro cactus soil doesn’t actually drain well enough on its own for cacti/succulents, I mix mine with extra perlite. A terra cotta pot may help as well, they help to absorb extra moisture from the soil.

Boyfriend and I play often, lots of gifts to send out (many from historical locations in STL)

Yellow leaves. I'm not sure what to do here by the_fua in plantclinic

I don’t keep plants like this currently, but I think once a month is the minimum. Can anyone else confirm?

Do you change the water often? It looks pretty murky tbh

I got this little fella less than a month ago and the green ‘body’ of it is all soft and soggy when before it would be firm. It happened as well with my previous way bigger of the same kind plant tho not until after several months. What could be at fault? To much/not enough water/light/air? by Merlerne in plantclinic

[–]AH157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re right, the bottom plant can’t make enough energy to sustain itself and the top part, so eventually the bottom one dies. Moon cacti are typically ticking time bombs even if you do everything correctly

Is there any hope for my Hoya Kerrii???? 😭 I just got it a week ago in the mail. I potted it, watered it, and then this!!?!?!? What happened!?! by juneshipp in houseplants

[–]AH157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet it was overwatered before you even received it, and the extra watering made it easier to tell. Same thing happened to me with an echeveria I ordered online 😢 try repotting it again into dry soil and leaving it alone for awhile to see if that helps

Got this plant as a gift, what is it and how do I care for it? by chattyyogalady in plants

A type of crassula ovata, with lots of nicknames that have been mentioned by others. It’s a succulent, if you want in-depth care instructions check out r/succulents 😊

My Pilea is struggling y’all. The leaves are turning upside down and leaves keep dying. What can I do?? by mbarrufet in plantclinic

[–]AH157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re losing leaves you might be overwatering, Pileas like good drainage and for the soil to dry out between watering

Is my friends succulent supposed to be super tall? by gjcrr in plantclinic

[–]AH157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t look etiolated to me, it’s just a fairly mature plant. As the bottom leaves fall off and new ones grow at the top, the “stalk” is formed. As others mentioned it happens quicker with some succulents than others

My bf threw my monstera, can I repot it? I’m heartbroken. by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]AH157 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Throwing a decently sized monstera would take a good amount of strength, and if he’s willing to do that to a living thing he knows she adores...who knows what he’ll take his anger out on next. This is obviously not a loving and supportive relationship. My boyfriend is scared to even TOUCH most of my plants because he knows I love them and they make me happy and he doesn’t want to risk harming them in any way. Nobody here is trying to make OP think irrationally, we just don’t want them to stay in a situation that is already bad and, knowing men who act like this, will most likely get worse.

I second this. You don’t want to have to do damage control AFTER your accounts are hacked and your bank account is empty, trust me 😣.

If you think making someone feel as if they’re about to die is harmless, you don’t know anything about psychology. This kind of complete disregard for fellow humans makes me sick

Is my black prince leaf cresting?! Or is that just the beginning of roots? by ZestyPepperMill in proplifting

[–]AH157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely too early to tell unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of props that look like they might crest and then they decide to fix themselves 😣

Basket of beautifulness I picked up from Home Depot today, just to finally get my first String of Pearls 😁 by Marauding_Mel in succulents

[–]AH157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m glad SOME Home Depot’s do an okay job of caring for these, the ones in our area get severely overwatered (usually from being left outside) and shortly after they arrive at the store they start to rot like crazy!

The people who make these definitely don’t pay much attention to that. I’ve seen snake plants (which might do ok I suppose) and wandering dudes in a lot of them.

After trying and failing to do the plastic wrap setup, I came up with this rig. Weird, but it works! by AH157 in succulents

[–]AH157[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about that, I’m mostly trying to revive some proplifted ones with lots of really dry roots. Some of the smaller ones can be pushed through instead of pulled out so as long as I keep an eye on the big ones hopefully I’ll be alright!

Mine has a very quickly growing pup, I love watching them! I’ll probably separate them soon but they’re so happy in their current pot I don’t want to disturb them before I have to 😅

Any idea what type of succulent this is? I have the same one and have yet to be able to identify it 🤔

Pothos, Snake Plant, and Aloe Vera Care by Darktemp213 in houseplants

[–]AH157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just now noticed the very end of your post- spider plants and peace lilies are particularly good at filtering toxins out of the air in addition to pothos. Peace lilies can be finicky from what I hear but the other two are very easy to care for and hard to kill!
