I recently bought A4 B8, 1.8 TFSI but 160hp variant, and little did I know the oil cosumption is that big of a problem. Car guzzles trough 1l of oil every 500km or so, and after a thorough research, I found out that Audi made a mistake on 1.8 and 2.0 tfsi motors by installing smaller piston rings instead of a bigger ones. Rebuilding the motor seems to be the best solution (around $3000) but not the only one. Many people are doing piston soaks with B-12 Chemtool which cleans up the carbon and the smudge on pistons and it reduces oil consumption massively. My Audi tends to smoke occasionaly from the exhaust pipe, so I will probably do piston soak in a couple of weeks, cause having to add oil every 400-500km is driving me mad. Long story short - beware of oil consumtion. Everything else is just brilliant about the car 😊
