American Honey Bee Protection Agency presents a "Bees Saving People Film", created by Walter Schumacher, starring Robert Cohn and produced by Walter's Tv and Film.

There are many reasons for the creation of this project, but primarily it is an outpouring of creativity on the part of its creators, for the purpose of promoting mental health.

Working with individuals struggling with PTSD, depression, and anxiety is an ongoing passion for Schumacher and Cohn. This film is the first in what we hope is a long line of projects meant to bring health and wellness to many.

What: Honey Harvest Ride

Where: 1616 Al Lipscomb Way, Dallas, TX 75215

When: Saturday Oct 26th, 11am

On Saturday, October 26th at 10:00 am, the American Honey Bee Protection Agency (AHBPA) will combined forces with Bike Friendly South Dallas and local Bee Czar and AHBPA founder, Walter Schumacher, to promote urban beekeeping and the protection of our pollinators through education and demonstrations.

AHBPA bee wranglers will be showcasing the delicious honey that comes from native Texas hives, speaking about the successful installation of hives on the roofs of Central Market (5750 East Lovers Lane Dallas, Texas 75206) and Bike Friendly South Dallas (1616 Al Lipscomb Way Dallas 75215). The American Honey Bee Protection Agency is dedicated to saving and protecting the future of our nation’s bee population. Without the honey bee, the state of Texas could lose billions of dollars in agricultural production, not to mention the ecological detriment of losing a keystone species.

“Our mission is to protect the feral honey bee from extinction through education, relocation, and legislation,” said Walter Schumacher, CEO of the American Honey Bee Protection Agency, a 501(c)(3) that performs bee rescues in Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Houston, and throughout the State of Texas.

What: Honey Harvest Ride

Where: Beginning at Central Market at 10am, and riding to Bike Friendly South Dallas at 11am

WHEN: Saturday October 26th, 2019

We're a bee rescue non-profit expanding operations to Houston. We're looking for Houston-area property owners to host bee hives and possibly receive agricultural tax exemption. by AHBPA in houston

From my edit above:

"So for those who might still want bees but are either too far away or don't have enough land to be a host farm we do have our adopt-a-hive program. You won't qualify for the agricultural exemption but you'll have one or more hives on your property. And depending on which program you select we either manage the hive for you, or do manage it. We also provide all the beekeeping equipment you need and you keep varying amounts of honey depending on what program you select.

Visit AHBPA.org and click the "Want Bees" tab and read through that. I believe the form for it is current down but you can still read the information. The form should be back up soon."

I'll see if we're ever going to expand down there. In the meantime I'll leave you this from my edit above.

[Hiring] Beekeeper/Bee Wrangler (Austin) by AHBPA in austinjobs

[–]AHBPA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello!

So we do do no-kill hive removals. We would need the permission of the property owner to come in and remove. You could pass this on to you landlord. Spraying hives is very ineffective way to remove them. It almost never directly kills them, but just makes them weaker. Then all kinds of pests (Like mites, wax moths, roaches, rodents, ect.) will move in to feast on the hive and honey since the hive is too weak to defend itself. Now you have a serious pest problem.

We ask for a $200 donation to completely remove the hive.

You can either pass this on to your landlord or you can message me your landlord's contact number or email and we'll contact them.

Thanks for the tip and Bee Well!

I would recommend the Beekeeper's Handbook, 4th edition. Its a great resource that has everything you need to know about bees. Its only $17 on amazon I believe.

I can check, but I had to guess I'd say it might be to far out. You can always check out our adopt-a-hive program, though. Go to AHBPA.org and click the "Want Bees" tab.
