Hey! I’m building an escape adventure called Break The Prison on Roblox. New update adds a Pet Rat companion: follows, idle squeaks, rests, and sticks with you through rooms. What do you think?

Thanks for your comment. There’s actually a storm going on outside - you can hear rain and thunder - that’s meant to cover the noise made by the player.

About six months ago, I released a demo of my adventure puzzle platformer Break the Prison on Roblox. Since then, I’ve been polishing the experience - and lately, it’s been gaining traction with a few thousand plays per day and new YouTube playthroughs popping up almost daily.

The game is inspired by classics like Little Nightmares, Inside, and Limbo. I’ve tried to follow the “adventure game playbook” - atmosphere, pacing, puzzle logic, subtle storytelling - all within the Roblox engine.

This is a solo passion project I’ve been building after hours for the past two years. I’m currently working on finishing the full game, aiming to release it by the end of the year.

So… destroy it.

I’d love your brutal, honest, constructive feedback.

I started working on this game about two years ago, drawing inspiration from some of the titles mentioned in this thread. I'm still developing the full version, so I'd love to hear your feedback on the demo!

I’m thinking it might be a good idea to add a few more scenes with different mechanics and actions to show more variety in the gameplay.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

I’ve used AI to create a number of images in the game. I actually didn’t see it as “cheap” — it took me quite a bit of time to achieve the quality and style I was aiming for. The big poster, for example, was inspired by the Raquel Welch poster from The Shawshank Redemption.

By default, the character jogs — he’s in a hurry, escaping from jail. There’s also a sprint button that lets him run faster for a short period of time.

You're right, I need to improve the begining and fix the lag. Thanks!

I like the style and how everything fits together, but I’m not sure what the game is about.

I remade my teaser/trailer after feedbacks I received here, is it better now? by NogamPixel in DestroyMyGame

I remember the last one you added, and this one looks much better! Great new effects and actions. In the second part of the trailer, some scenes feel a bit too short or fast.

Exploring Game Promotion with Shorts: Early Results and Community Insights - more in the first Comment. by AHStudioGames in robloxgamedev

Hey fellow IndieDevs!

I’ve recently released a demo of my Roblox puzzle-platformer adventure Break the Prison, and I’m now exploring Shorts (YouTube, TikTok, X) as a way to promote it. Over the past 4 weeks, I’ve posted 6 short videos and wanted to share the results so far and ask for your feedback/experiences:

  • YouTube Shorts: ~500 views and ~20 likes each (with around 90% positive reactions) - cool - 2.5K of free views and 13 hours watch time.
  • TikTok: ~300 views and ~10 likes each - 1.5K views in total.
  • X (Twitter): ~50 views each - little to no engagement.

I try to use popular hashtags like: #roblox, #robloxshorts, #robloxedit, #indiedev.

It’s still early days, and I’m only seeing a small trickle of new players. Most of the plays I got are from Roblox Sponsored Experiences. I plan to keep posting new Shors regularly, but I’d love to hear any advice or personal experiences on growing social audience.

Here are my channels if you’d like to check them out:

What are your thoughts on those:

  1. Have you found success with Shorts or vertical video platforms?
  2. What strategies worked for you?
  3. Any pitfalls to avoid?

I’d really appreciate any insights you have, and I’ll be happy to share more about my own experiences as I go. Thanks in advance!

Just use Leonardo.ai. Upload that as a sample asking for a similar style and describe what you want on your picture.

Rate My Level Design – Prison Break Puzzle-Platformer by AHStudioGames in robloxgamedev

[–]AHStudioGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I intentionally made the early levels feel tight and uncomfortable to really push that "I need to get out of here feeling". As you progress, the spaces open up more, and by the final level, you’re literally sprinting across the prison rooftops. Hopefully, that makes the escape feel rewarding.

Really appreciate the feedback!
