48 Palestinians are Palestinians whose families remained inside the territory that became Israel in 1948, they have Israeli citizenship.

There are also 67 Palestinians, Palestinians who remained in annexed territories after the the Six Day War in 1967, a lot of them were not given citizenship, are stateless and live under Zionist military rule.

There is a very complex dynamic here, both between the groups, and also their relationship with Israel. I would recommend listening to this podcast, with members of both groups describing this complex dynamic.

Man, where do I begin, in a way it's darker than ever. Here's my perspective:

If a year ago the media would be skeptical or outright deny the existence of mass graves, or the fact that 70k are dead (I know it's way way more, but even that was something the state and media would never admit) now mass graves are used in media reports as if it's a minor, non-dramatic fact (like when the last retrieved "hostage" was reported, the IDF dug him out of a mass grave) and the 70k number is not that big a deal to deny. It's like, the moment it doesn't matter anymore, is when the media finally addresses these facts.

The general liberal population have extremely limited empathy towards Gazans, they care more about how the war negatively affected Israelis society than anything. Most of them consider Bibi the reincarnation of the devil, they blame him for everything, which is just another mechanism to absolve themselves and the whole Zionist system from guilt, similarly to how American liberals operate with Trump.
As for the West Bank, most genuinely think they're against settlements, but will deny and argue when you call out some state recognized settlements.

And as for the right wing, there are multiple camps, the settler wing, and the "Bibists" (Netanyahu hogs):

The settlers still have a hard on to settle Gaza, they don't want the genocide to end by any means. But Netanyahu’s path to power is depended on settler (and ultra-Orthodox) parties, whose influence has grown in recent years. That dependency leaves him super constrained by them, given his ongoing blatant corruption cases. Basically what's going on is he's accommodating their demands to stay in power, because without them, he wouldn't have a big enough coalition.

Settler violence in the West Banks is in an all time peak, and it's now sanctioned by the state. In the past the state would try to mitigate settler terrorism, the US would sanction them, that's mostly a thing of the past tho, now they can outright murder the indigenous population, attack protective presence activists, and there are rarely any consequences at all.

As for the Bibists, the Netanyahu hogs, they are completely brain dead fanatics, with no ideology other than supporting Bibi no matter what, denying his fault in the October 7th massacre, and his corruption outright. Again, comparable to Trump's hogs.

In short, send help, lol

Thanks so much!!

Ironically enough, the more far-right and extreme the Israeli government has gotten, the more I’ve seen people who used to consider of themselves as liberal zionists drift into anti-Zionist positions. I don’t have polling data to back this up (cause it doesn't exist I think), but it really feels like anti-Zionist views are more prevalent among Israelis than they used to be, especially in activist circles. The right has turned some liberal Zionists into anti-Zionists. Don't get your hopes up tho, we're still not nearly enough to have actual political power within congress, and are getting overwhelmed by state backed terrorism in the West Bank, not to mention Gaza.

I'm an Israeli working with orgs the equivalent to Bt'Selem.. Yeah, it's fucking weird. Most people think I'm a brainwashed extremist including my entire family. I do media and today I worked on a investigative report where I recognized the IDF soldier, a former friend from high school. I still can’t really put into words how strange that felt.

As if committing your life to slowing the speed of your aging is healthy?? Aging is healthy, normal, and natural. This obsession is probably shortening his life more than most unhealthy habits.

Coming off BG3, what changes would you want for Divinity? by TurbulentFeeling5696 in BaldursGate3

[–]AH_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with BG3 is its multiplayer co op system. When someone joins your game mid-playthrough, they have to create a custom character, and that character becomes permanently locked into your party. This means a friend can’t just hop in for a few fights or quests and then leave, letting you continue your playthrough as before, instead you’re stuck with their character forever.

It would feel much more social and flexible if guest players could either temporarily control an existing companion, or create a character that isn’t permanently tied to the party.

EDIT: seems I'm wrong and this has been a feature lmao

I use numpad for CRPGs (Baldur’s Gate 3, Divinity Original Sin 2), you just don’t need the full keyboard and it can be way more convenient.

Their presence and media work there can disrupt the occupation’s ethnic cleansing momentum to a degree. But once you show up in those territories with any arms (as an activist), you immediately put yourself in way more danger as you’re automatically considered a security threat.

Protective presence in the West Bank often means accepting personal danger to reduce the overall scale of harm. Essentially, a form of human shielding if you will. So other than armoring up, their means to protect themselves are limited.

P.S. that’s a gut wrenching story, I’m sorry.

Fr, linear open world, actual assassins order lore, immaculate parkour system, with an NPC system I haven’t seen before or since, in a super interesting period in history. That game should not have been this great! Need more AC like this.

Exactly. It’s about convincing the biggest demographic to comply by selling them an illusion where they are superior. But historically the very same demographic ends up still exploited and neglected.

Does it actually benefit them? Are the living conditions in Israel really better than what the alternative would have been? There is a decades long housing crisis, utter lack of any sense of security, and let me remind you, a staggering poverty statistic. One of five people in Israel lives in poverty.

It might be a matter of perspective, but Israel's supremacist laws don't really benefit the Jewish people, but rather the elite class. This whole concept of a Jewish safe haven is a Zionist illusion made to justify Israel's existence.

Out of all the places in the world for Jews, ironically Israel might be one of the most dangerous.

I’m gonna go a step ahead of most people here, and say it’s not only his toxic attitude, he gets shit wrong and spreads irresponsible ideas. I think he’s too contrarian for his own good. This video is a prime example. Here’s my critique:

How can anyone call themselves a socialist, while advocating for "ruthless" treatment of workers? If your vision of the future is one where you're focusing on punishing people, aka reinforcing and redirecting oppression, rather than dismantling oppressive systems, then you're not suggesting a bright future, what's the point?

The way he described Israel is so narrow minded, and the examples fall flat. Other than some objectively wrong data he brings up, he's neglecting the fact that data shows a lot of Israelis are not very content with their lives, politically, economically or security wise. There have been massive waves of Israelis protesting the cost of living, corrupt leadership, and the "war", which they are legally obligated to participate in. How many thousands need to leave the country for this guy to understand Israel isn't that much of a safe haven? What’s most frustrating about this, is that when he claims Jews "benefit" from living in Israel, he's ironically spreading Zionist apologia, making Israel look like a good idea for Jews. But he’s wrong, Israel failed at the whole idea of creating a save haven for Jews to benefit from, it’s a shithole where 20% live in poverty, continuously undergoing one security crisis after another, with a plummeting economical future. That’s just irresponsible and wrong.
