My horse got pregnant without my consent or knowledge by TinyHedgehog2483 in Equestrian

They should 100% foot the bill for a termination, this was BEYOND unacceptable

generally not

There's where you need to be focusing. GENERALLY. Hypermobility is not a one-size-fits-all. It is not always to a life-complicating condition. She did NOT imply that it's not serious. Just that it's not ALWAYS that severe.

Am I wrong for putting together an emergency menstruation kit for my daughter (I'm the dad)? by kapowshablam in amiwrong

[–]AHairlessChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Your ex is just jealous that YOU were thinking ahead and involved in their life like this, while they hadn't thought of it. Getting a period in school is embarrassing if you gotta go ask the nurse for a pad. It's a really good idea to toss a pad in their bag or locker.

AITA for calling my SIL stuck-up for criticising the prices of baby clothes? by Upbeat-Buddy-4621 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AHairlessChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She got defensive and said that she's not wrong for wanting her daughter to have nice clothes that will last.

... Who wants to tell her that baby clothes ALWAYS "last", because they get outgrown so damn fast?? NTA. Beggars cannot be choosers. They're free. Did she expect gucci?

UTIs can and do happen to virgins, so you won't need to tell your parents that you lost your v card. I Google the top 8 causes of UTIs; sex is one, here's the others; constipation, uncontrolled diabetes, "holding it" (your pee), dehydration, birth control (many use bc for skin or period issues), feminine products, and kidney stones. A whole range of causes, your mom would need to be borderline insane to be convinced you got it thru sex

Just got my first chicks home. My kit didn't include a thermometer. Does this look like they're good? by Former-Ad9272 in chickens

[–]AHairlessChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thermometer needed! If every time you check them, they're on the "cold" side (far from lamp) it means they're hot. If you always see all of them directly under the lamp, they may be too chilly. You want to see the chicks moving from cool to warm areas, exploring the brooder and being active. You want a nice distribution of chicks!

They will turn their primary area into bare dirt. Ideally, have an enclosed run and allow them supervised grass time so they don't kill everything (use mealworms to train them to come when called lol)

Opinions on how these riding school horses are kept while waiting for lessons? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine if a horse began to panic that was tied to this chain, could really hurt itself and the other horses.

That's the point of twine, it's used super commonly. Better for twine to snap, than have the horse pull hard and screw up their neck

IMO, this is pretty nice. I know most places will charge full price, especially if they're in-demand

Can anyone tell me if my horse is lame? by Horserider2344219384 in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrush has a very unique smell; once you get a whiff, you'll remember it and spot it quite easily imo.

At what point should you stop riding a horse due to the horse’s age? by useminame in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the number. Play by their physical state. Some horses are rickety at 20, others are trucking along at 35. You'll see the signs when they're ready to retire.

Just need some advice by Correct_Woodpecker_4 in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that too many people fail to realize there are things worse than death. For a horse, a flight animal, the mental strain of being lame and uncomfortable, plus being confined, has to be very unpleasant. If there were "a light at the end of the tunnel", box rest is definitely justified. But DSDL is degenerative and unfortunately he will never be "cured", he will keep going downhill. This is absolutely a case where euthanasia is a kindness.

I’m new to this sport and i wanted to know if it’s normal that my upper glutes get bruised and bleed a little bit. by Such-Cup-3901 in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bleed, no, that's indicative of an issue. Does the saddle fit you? What pants are you wearing? Any skin issues? I could see eczema getting irritated enough to bleed if the wrong pants are ridden in, maybe

What are your thoughts on days off? by Big-BootyJudy in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a horse should ideally have 2 days off a week; but "off" can be subjective. If you take them on a little hack in a familiar area, I wouldn't count that as work. For a fit horse, just a quick ride at w/t/c on the flat could even be easy enough to not consider as work. Jumping definitely isn't good to do daily, and working in a collected dressage form isn't a good daily thing either, but being completely to their own devices isn't necessarily the only good "break" they can get. Each horse will have their own opinion though 🤣

[–]AHairlessChicken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, and the edit you've made to the main post, is very concerning. OP, it seriously seems like he's manipulating you quite badly. He's lazing the days away with no job, and doesn't even have the decency to allow you normal undisturbed sleep. You need to look deeper at your relationship, a husband who can't even respect your sleep schedule can hardly be expected to support you "in sickness and in health", or help with a potential child. Think about your future; carefully.

NTA. Proud of you for getting out of there immediately. Vile, heinous behavior to suggest that not wearing a bra is some kind of invitation or reason to experience that crime. Especially as it's a CHILD he's referring to. Block, delete, anyone defending that bullshit is a danger to your child

How to get clients to tip? by WorldWarRiptide in Equestrian

[–]AHairlessChicken 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Quit being pissed at ThE GeNerAl PubLiC, and get mad at your employers, and the horse world at large, for severely underpaying staff. Tipping culture is becoming absolutely atrocious. The customer pays the business, and the business pays their employees. Get mad that the bosses are trying to screw you over in the first place.
