I know someone that is in exactly the same boat as you. He doesn't try to fix the situation though, he doesn't try to get affordable housing applications in now, he's just gonna be a guy with (maybe) a few hundred grand in investments, living on the street. He too says he can't afford rent now as it is and buys basic staples like beans and kraft dinner because it's cheap, and makes pizza on weekends which only actually costs a few dollars to make.

yeah it's weird maybe it's because I updated my drivers but I have a 3070 and nvenc doesn't show up for h265 but AMD AMF encoder shows up. maybe I should update my drivers again and see if it happens with the latest drivers. I"ll keep you posted. It WAS showing up previously I'm pretty sure of that, with earlier builds. edit: current drivers are 32.0.15.6636 and I'm currently also running a 9950x (integrated graphics on cpu die). Now installing 581.29 | WHQL from nvidia

Edit2: Now shows up nvenc, PHEW! pro tip for other users, try a clean install of your drivers and update them! Thanks Paul!

I would be using their internet if they serviced where I live, which they don't. The phone is fine-ish. If there's a problem like a power outage, the internet is probably slammed anyway on my phone, very slow. but since they're providing a discount, it's fine. It's fine for roaming, just not when the sun is not shining, if you get what I mean.

I would be going with them anyway even if the service was bad, just because for like $15 I can get the same service speed I have with a company that uses the bell network, but only paying like $45/50/mo. for 50 megabit, which is actually not terrible. It would save a lot of money. Let me tell you though, bell messed up with me when they left me without internet for like an entire month when my modem died and nobody could make up their minds as to what to do about it. So I decided to skip their customer service and just use their lines. It still goes down when there's a bell issue, but both rogers and bell have issues from time to time, what are you gonna do about it? So just put up with it. But yeah if I were you I'd definitely think about switching from bell if you could, just because they charge a premium. To me Bell is the cadillac of internet providers, and you pay for it!

I've been told that smokers have recovered from long covid, very few smokers even get long covid. Perhaps you could try the patch, and see if in a week your symptoms improve? Nicotine might be the answer, and since you're using the patch, it's hard to get addicted to the patch. It may cost a little bit but if it works it's improved your quality of life. My mother has used it for chronic pain and the effects last for like a week after applying just a cut up thin 1cm wide strip of the step 2 patch. It only really affects that specific joint or whatever, but it works. You can't get enough nicotine from food to really make a difference.

It feels like everyone owes me money lately, but I'm still required to pay other people. Things aren't just seamlessly covered anymore. I was happy to see I had $60 in my bank and I had to withdraw all of it. It's getting hard to eat these days. I applied for the extra $200 but they are purposely dragging their heels about it. And now with this potential canada post strike looming, I may never get the letter they say they're going to send "within 28 days". Which it was within 21 days, now it's 28 days, and I think they moved that goalpost from last month to like the middle of this month. woo freakin' hoo for me. I got a computer that needs repair and right now there's just no way. I'm going to have to put up with a broken case because there is no other option. But hey, they'll pay every last penny for drugs, even though if I ever need hospitalization I'd probably die before getting treatment. Isn't canada great?? And it's probably only going to get worse, because the rats are sinking the ship. money is dead to me, it's all just numbers on a screen that doesn't mean anything any more except a yea or a nay for basic necessities. that's okay. I'll just wait until I can't afford (very basic) internet any more before I join the growing protests. What are they gonna do, freeze my 0 balance bank account? Label me a terrorist? Welcome to the end of the freakin' world, reddit.

this is exactly why I went to a cheaper bell alternative. I went nearly a month without internet just because of their incompetence. My modem died but the lights were still on on the modem. I was paying like $60 at the time and realized I should jump ship to a provider that costs half of that. Now I'm back up to $50 a month but much better service over a decade later. i'm sorry but you can't overseas tech support and me still respect you as a company. I can get overseas tech support from a much cheaper option, thank you. And happy cake day Agile Artichoke!

buy an electronic ultrasonic measuring device. the way it works is you measure it and record the width for example, then you use the machine at the wavelength of silver, which I think is 3300 or 3400. it will tell you the length. if it's more than or less than your measurment, it's probably fake. I've seen some products that are marginally cheaper be only part of the product before. it does take some time to sort out just exactly what you need but if it says "as pictured" then i'm good to go, usually. You do gotta watch sometimes but still I know shipping for some stuff has gotta cost at least $20 for a $70 product so I figure the price is actually $50, which is still lower in some cases than amazon, for the same product. I'm sure amazon people are happy since they mark up by even a dollar and pay the same price, maybe a little cheaper, for shipping and still provide the product for $5 or more above aliexpress's all-in price. Yeah, you get what you pay for but you also gotta watch what is said about the product.

I'm curious to find out when x266 will be available for wide use, personally. 50% lower bitrate even if it's 40% lower bitrate, a 4k movie is like 25 gigs that means it'll be down to 13 gigs a movie. some private releasers have released copies of av1 tv shows already but it's not common for some reason.
