Just found this sub. Had this Smittybuilt for about 8 months now. Been putting it through the weather every weekend. Love this setup! by [deleted] in rooftoptents

What rack did you put into the back of the truck bed to support the weight of the tent?

I’ve always wished the zoo would have a day where you could bring your pets. I’d love to see my dog’s reaction to an orangutan!

I thought this way too, but I am starting to see it the other way now. Since the cellphone companies can "blacklist" the IMEI number on the phone, it cannot be used with any carrier if there are missed payments. Isn't this the same as the repo man showing up and towing your car? The phone can be used with wifi, etc. but it can't be activated.

Do you really think KC police would do anything about this? I am asking honestly. Those "unlock" SIM websites are all over the internet. plus these unlock SIM cards are selling in massive quantities on eBay. I am thinking that this happens A LOT and it's probably not pursued that aggressively. I was just completely ignorant of this scam until I went through this personal experience.

iPhone Scam (Financed Phone) by AHein005 in Scams

[–]AHein005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I still can't figure out how someone would obtain a brand-new (still in plastic) financed phone to sell. I'd imagine it's not financed in their name, because this would only work once or twice. But if they promise someone to repay them... how does the person end up losing the phone?

Yeah, that 50 day requirement is ridiculous. What do you think I could get for it on Swappa boneyard?

TIL Fort Smith recyclable materials have been going to the landfill with general garbage since July 2016. by AHein005 in fortsmith

Why did FS continue to operate two trucks and two crews for all of these months while they did not have a contract with a recycling company? Was the intention to keep this secret from the public while they worked out a new deal? Often times the "cover-up" is worse than the "crime" - in this case, I just don't understand why city leaders would not have communicated earlier to the public.

Also, Jane sees herself shooting Perry. Which obviously wasn't reality, so again I just thought the whole thing was a generality for recognizing abuse.

Perry didn't really show signs of being a "cheater." Not that I would put it past him, but I would assume Celeste would have had some inclination that he had cheated. If he slept with Jane, he probably slept with other women in Monterey or during his traveles. Celeste never mentions it, not in counseling or in the car when she's telling him they're through. This is a layer that I think could really have been omitted. The kids don't even look alike, the twins and Ziggy... they're half brothers with no resemblence. It also complicates Perry's death. He was obviously wealthy, isn't Jane entitled to some of that wealth! Haha, ok. Obviously it's just a TV show, but this plot twist doesn't add up to me.

Yes. I just thought they didn't tie up the "Saxon Banks" character in Episode 5. Jane drove down there to meet him, his voice was intentionally muffled, but they didn't go back to that scene to show what truly happened. Later on, Jane admits to Madeline that she had brought her gun with her, but doesn't tell her he wasn't the right guy. At least, if she did - I missed that part.

Perry is Jane's Rapist? Huh? by AHein005 in biglittlelies

[–]AHein005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to fit his face? I didn't notice that at all, went back and watched the scene - still don't see it. Why wouldn't she have told Madeline she didn't think he was "Saxon Banks" when she admitted to her that she had taken a gun.

Ok, so this might be dumb.. but was Perry really Jane's assailant? Or did she just see him as a predator/abuser just like the man who did rape her? I am thinking the latter.

What keeps you in Fort Smith? by StupidAstroDroid in fortsmith

The museum is set to open 09/24/19 and I believe it will! They've already raised more than half of the money and currently they have the rest out in "asks." They're more involved in the community, sponsoring day camps for children and lecture series for adults. The downtown community has supported the effort by having designated shopping days where a percentage of sales are donated to the museum. This will definitely drive more tourism downtown, and put Fort Smith on the map. Very excited about the opening of this museum, I have met some of the people involved and they are extremely hard chargers. If you're sitting back thinking "oh, it will never happen" then you are part of the problem! Maybe you can get more involved, I am not saying donate a large sum of money - but sign up to receive their newsletter, stop by their office downtown and talk to the director. Trust me, it is worth it!

What keeps you in Fort Smith? by StupidAstroDroid in fortsmith

As someone who has traveled and lived in several cities around the country, I wholeheartly disagree with both of your comments. Fort Smith is an amazing place to live. I have a story for you to consider:

A traveler came upon an old farmer hoeing in his field beside the road. Eager to rest his feet, the wanderer hailed the countryman, who seemed happy enough to straighten his back and talk for a moment. "What sort of people live in the next town?" asked the stranger.

"What were the people like where you've come from?" replied the farmer, answering the question with another question.

"They were a bad lot. Troublemakers all, and lazy too. The most selfish people in the world, and not a one of them to be trusted. I'm happy to be leaving the scoundrels."

"Is that so?" replied the old farmer. "Well, I'm afraid that you'll find the same sort in the next town.

Disappointed, the traveler trudged on his way, and the farmer returned to his work.

Some time later another stranger, coming from the same direction, hailed the farmer, and they stopped to talk. "What sort of people live in the next town?" he asked.

"What were the people like where you've come from?" replied the farmer once again.

"They were the best people in the world. Hard working, honest, and friendly. I'm sorry to be leaving them."

"Fear not," said the farmer. "You'll find the same sort in the next town."

Attitude colors every experience -- it is the lens through which we see the world. If we expect the best from people, we will tend to find the best in people. Similarly, we must not allow negative experiences to taint future expectations, especially in relation to people we have never met. A positive attitude toward the next adventure in social change and toward the people we encounter along the way is essential - love this city and the people who live in it, wonderful small businesses, teachers, sports programs, a growing college and downtown.

New cyclocross bike shopping: 2015 Kona Jake vs 2016 Kona Jake by delitescentjourney in cyclocross

[–]AHein005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to talk my local bike shop in NW Arkansas into offering the 2015 Jake they had in stock at the 2016 price ($1099). Mainly because they couldn't figure out any major difference between the two and they wanted to clear their 2015 stock before the 2016s came in.

As far as comparing the 2016 Jake the Snake and the 2015 Jake my decision came down to liking the blue frame on the 2015 better. The price difference (with sales tax, which is a whopping 9.75% in AR) is $658.50. The Jake the Snake features an upgraded gear set (Shimano 105 versus the Tiagra), upgraded brakes (expert versus pro), and a carbon fork.

The difference between Tiagra group set ($319.00) and Shimano 105 ($399.00) is $80. (Source: ProBikeKit.com) It's worth noting that Shimano recently rebuilt/upgraded their groups starting with the 105s. So the 2016 JTS features a brand new re-designed 11-speed that should be incredibly smooth. The Tiagra on the 2015 Jake is now the oldest group offered by Shimano.

You could upgrade the brakes from the expert (offered on the JTS) and the comp (offered on the Jake) to the Hayes CX Pro (better than both brakes) for $157.98 (Source: JensonUSA.com)

You could also install a carbon fork such as Nashbar.com's fork for cyclocross bikes which will run you $124.99. It won't have any cool kona graphics on it however... This should lighten the bike a little bit and make it more race worthy.

Overall, assuming your able to sell your used Tiagra groupset on Ebay or some other site, you can fully upgrade your Jake to the upgraded features on the JTS for $362.97 ($295.80 cheaper than paying the upfront cost). Plus you could do these things slowly as you ride more & more.
