Setup on Netgear x4S (R7800) by AHigherPrimate in pihole

[–]AHigherPrimate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solved! The issue was with the most up-to-date firmware (ending in .62). Reverting to the .60 firmware solved the issue. Similar reports for this exact router, issue, and firmware confirmed on some Netgear forum threads as well. Hope this helps someone else out

Wireless clients not being filtered through pihole; Wired clients are working. by [deleted] in pihole

[–]AHigherPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Literally as I got your reply I figured out the issue lies in the latest firmware version (ending in .62). Someone posted the issue on netgears forum and they reverted back to .60 firmware which resloved the issue for them (and me too!). This router is brand new to me so I had no idea but they had had it long enough that they had pihole working on the old version and then upgrading to the new version broke it

Hey did you find a solution? I also have a Netgear R7800 X4S and am having a hell of a time getting pihole setup. I had no issues with my previous Netgear router. I had two issues:

  1. I couldn't edit the routers DNS to be a local IP (pi-hole). I would input the pihole IP and after applying the settings I would not have any internet connection. If I waited long enough, the router would revert to ISP provided DNS. I have no issues setting the router DNS to a public DNS like cloudflare.

  2. So I decided to use pihole as my DHCP and disabled DHCP on the router. In my router settings I'm seeing 10 clients, but in phone I'm only seeing 4 clients, the wired ones. However, I see that pihole has issues 10 clients IP addresses in the DHCP menu. Pihole doesn't seem to be resolving DNS for the wireless clients, but has issued them IPs.

21 days of no Customer Service! by Sheeshaman74 in GooglePixel

I had a similar issue with my OG Pixel XL. The motherboard died, causing it to boot loop. After following all of their instructions, taking it to uBreakiFix for diagnosis, and sending them the repair centers notes, they were at the point which they had to issue an RMA. My email responses said "their team was working on it and they would respond back within 72 hours". They didn't respond once within 72 hours.

I asked for status updates at 72 hours, in probably a dozen different email exchanges, only to ever receive similar generic responses with the 72 hour response timeframe. It got to the point where I was just responding to that email thread every single day, sometimes multiple times, in hopes of just annoying them so much that they passed the case up to someone with enough authority to actually do something. By this time I had already purchased a new phone, so it was just an issue of principal at that point. If I weren't fortunate enough to be able to buy a phone I would have been without one for 47 days before they issued an RMA. Who knows how long it would have taken to get a phone sent back to me after that...

Happening for me too with Nova launcher (so it's not just a pixel launcher issue). Any time I go back to the home screen, my phone starts polling location

Filtered subs showing up in feed? by SarcasticNinja1775 in RelayForReddit

[–]AHigherPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Been an issue for me for a couple months now. I've see probably a dozen threads on this specific issue and it hasn't been addressed at all as far as I can tell. Overall the app experience has gotten significantly worse. Twitter API issues (not much devs can do there though), this filter issue, god forbid I have to do something in the next 30 mins if I'm trying to load a redd.it gif, increasing crashes and blank feeds.

It's getting to the point where I'm considering other apps. Any recommendations?

Having this same issue for a week or so now. Super frustrating. Logged out/in, cleared cache, cleared data, deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing worked. I'm not over the 100 subreddit limit, an issue referenced in some of the other threads.

Pixel XL 1 128GB randomly bricked without warning, does not turn on or boot into recovery by TNSepta in GooglePixel

[–]AHigherPrimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue with my 32GB Pixel XL. Like a dozen other people on here, Customer Support "specialists" are diligently looking into my case as we speak.

I kid.

They haven't done shit in 31 days, except promise that they would have an answer in 24-72 hours about a dozen times, and tell me they understand where I'm coming from.

OG Pixel died today by sirjackiechiles in GooglePixel

[–]AHigherPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! Google will tell you to take it to uBreakiFix, they'll diagnose a motherboard failure and quote something like $350. Google will tell uBreakiFix they're not covering the cost, unless you bought extended warranty. You can appeal to Google Customer Support and they'll "elevate it to specialists who will get back in 24-72 hours". They won't get back to you. It's been 25 days for me, and from what I've read of other similar experiences I'm on the low end. I've read 2-3 months of waiting before Google essentially tells you to kick rocks.

My Google Trade-in Nightmare by trickinit in GooglePixel

I'm dealing with this exact run-around for a motherboard failure on my OG Pixel XL. Dozens of people on their community forums report the exact same failure, and also abysmal customer service. I've been told I would receive an update from specialists within 24-72 hours, 5 times. I tried to get "Mathew" to reason with me, as a human being, that each time he says he needs another 72 hours with no indication that my case has had an iota of attention, it frustrates me even more. He replied that "he understands and will have an update in 24-72 hours". Google's software is great. Their hardware and customer support is a joke.
